BSV: Hello Mert! Hope you are all good. How is your day going so far?     
MERT BATIGÜN: Hi there. Lately, most of my days are spent organizing my music archive, listening to promos, playing music at the club, and working out.

BSV: I was introduced to your music in 2015 while listening to your very first release for our common label. I really liked your vibe with the “Fellings” track. What’s your perspective on it, a decade later?       
MERT BATIGÜN: While producing the track “Feelings,” I was going through a period where I was struggling and feeling lonely within the music industry. I still play this track at the end of my sets from time to time.

BSV: Is there some kind of connection between your running discipline and your music journey? We are just curious.    
MERT BATIGÜN: I started running purely to clear my mind. It also positively affected my production. I’d call it a free doping for mental health, and I recommend it to everyone.

BSV: During weekends, you are busy performing in clubs of Istanbul. How would you describe the energy and character of the local crowd?        
MERT BATIGÜN: Most of the people who go out in Istanbul are very knowledgeable about music. They can really have certain expectations. While playing, you definitely need to watch the crowd. Most of the time, we steer the flow of the night together with the audience, which makes it both enjoyable and exciting.

BSV: Just like your first release, a special combination of techno and deep house, perfectly blended. Is that your scope of work?          
MERT BATIGÜN: Lately, indie sounds have become trendy again. I’m blending disco and indie dance styles. And of course, the night always continues with techno 🙂
