Steyoyoke Black welcomes talented newcomers Kadhem and EZEK to the uber talented roster of dark introspective artists. Comprising of 2 keen and mysterious tracks, this “Phantom” EP will have you on a razors edge of suspense.

Kicking off this EP, “Phantom” immediately thrusts the listener into an irregular kick and tom beat. Resting atop, the repeating sequence lead hypnotizes the listener only to be periodically reminded of imminent drama by way of lengthy cathedral-esque horn stabs and rising tension strings. Continuing this haunting journey into the proverbial Inferno, “Luminance” takes you to a place light only appears in flashes by means of delicate plucky downward arpeggios. Its sustained lead drones continue pulling the listener deeper into the netherworld.

Kadhem and EZEK’s “Phantom” EP is an evocative and pensive addition to the Steyoyoke Black label. With its soul- stirring and mystifying undertones and apprehensive melodies, this EP will take the listener on a philosophical and perilous journey into foreboding darkness.

Baronessa the Blondia is an up-and-coming DJ in Munich. Last summer in 2022, she had her big release with her collective, the Skywalkers, at the Alte Utting in Munich. As a resident with the Skywalkers, she has been actively involved and takes care of the musical program. Since then, she has already had several gigs, including at Rakete in Nuremberg. She was able to assert herself among the top 6 applicants in the DJ contest, and she also already has been act for the Bahnwärter Thiel. This year, she will also be seen at the Ikarus Festival. With her deep, groovy, and driving basslines, she always gets the stage buzzing.

Against a Dark Background – the full-length studio album from long-standing British techno duo, Spektre – will be released in early 2020 on Pleasurekraft’s esteemed Kraftek imprint.

Following their critically-acclaimed debut album Casting Shadows Without Light in 2010 and their sophomore outing Cyclic Operations in 2013, Against a Dark Background will be the third studio long-player from partners Paul Maddox and Rich Wakley, who have been producing together under the Spektre moniker since 2006.

Currently in the top five-selling techno artists worldwide and with over 500,000 streams per month on Spotify, Spektre have taken the electronic music world by storm over the past few years, with their forward-thinking productions and high-intensity live performances resonating with legions of loyal techno fans across all corners of the globe.

Now key ambassadors for British dance music on a global level, Spektre’s chart-topping productions have received high praise from the likes of Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Pleasurekraft and Alan Fitzpatrick and the duo are often hailed as one of the most exciting acts to emerge onto the UK techno scene over the past decade.

Talking about the forthcoming album, Spektre commented:

It had been over 5 years since the release of 'Cyclic Operations' when we first started work on the new album in earnest, so we wanted it to be a representation of how our music has evolved in that intervening period. The writing process itself was a lot more reductive than the previous two albums. We holed ourselves up for a few months and hammered out loads and loads of ideas, then filtered and refined the pool through playing them out and getting feedback from a few trusted pairs of ears, until "Against a Dark Background" began to crystallise into its final form.

Having long been supported by Alan Fitzpatrick as well as performing at WATB tour events worldwide, we are delighted to have him make his debut on Respekt.

Thorium is a peak-time powerhouse with big, octaved synths and dissonant sequences and has been a regular appearance in Spektre's livestreams during lockdown.
Continuing the isotopic theme, but emitting a slightly deeper form of radiation is Barium; Less flashy than the A-side, but a super useful set building track. 
You won't need a geiger counter to detect these two once we're back in the clubs!
