Say What? is happy to welcome the new collaborative EP from Spanish/Chilean techno craftsmen Under The FX and JFERNANDEZ. Fusing precision-engineered grooves with emotional depth, the duo dives into the disorienting and fascinating world of time perception through hypnotic, rolling techno.

Opening the EP with elegant chaos, 'Desfase Circular' plays with looping sequences and subtly shifting percussion that evolve in a spiralling motion. Syncopated low-end patterns pull the listener in while atmospheric elements swell and retract like tidal waves of tension. It’s a circular rhythm that never quite returns to the same place.

A mechanical heart beats off-kilter in 'Pulso Desviado'. Clock-like clicks, rolling sub-bass, and warped synth stabs generate a hypnotic drive that feels both relentless and unstable. The groove continuously deviates from expected patterns, creating a sense of temporal distortion—like a second hand skipping beats in a dream..

The third track on the release 'Reloj Interno' explores the body’s own rhythm. Here, organic percussion interlocks with warm, rolling bass and subtle modular tones. The groove feels intimate and alive—almost biological. Pulses echo like a heartbeat, gradually layered with evolving synth textures that mirror the shifts of day and night. It’s a track that breathes, grounded in groove but aimed toward inner exploration.

Closing the EP on a deeper, more meditative note, 'Tiempo Suspendido' suspends time itself. Space opens up between the kick and the rhythmic elements, allowing haunting pads and ghostly effects to drift in like forgotten memories. The track moves slowly yet purposefully, capturing that strange sensation when moments feel stretched—when time no longer feels like a straight line. Perfect for closing sets or introspective home listening.

PREMIERE: Under The FX, JFERNANDEZ - Desfase Circular [Say What?]

CDTRAX & Gabrielle join forces for a striking deep modular techno statement on Say What? with the Form And Void EP - a four-track journey that explores tension, texture, and the interplay between raw machine energy and hypnotic groove.

We start off with 'Form And Void' an immersion into contrast: delicate atmospheres collide with raw, pulsating low-end pressure. A spiraling modular sequence evolves throughout, never static, shifting shapes like liquid metal in constant transformation. Echoed percussion and shadowy textures create a sense of vast negative space, allowing the groove to breathe yet always pushing forward with purpose.

 Next up is 'Balance' a hypnotic rhythm sets the foundation, while modulated synth tones weave in and out, destabilizing the listener’s sense of grounding. Subtle harmonic layers rise and fall like distant signals, offering moments of serenity before plunging back into rolling, hypnotic momentum. The track becomes a meditation on equilibrium - how groove, distortion, and space coexist within one evolving system.

 The third track on the release is 'Kill The Messenger' a rolling deep excursion with metallic percussion and a growling, distorted modular bassline. The arrangement strips things down to essentials, creating an atmosphere of urgency and confrontation. With its minimal yet impactful design, it conjures the feeling of being locked inside the machine.

 We are closing the EP with, 'Mechatronic' an ode to kinetic energy and futurist sound design. Pulsating modular sequences interlock with crisp, precision-engineered drum programming, creating an almost biomechanical groove. The textures blur the line between human and machine, organic imperfection and engineered precision.

PREMIERE: CDTRAX, Gabrielle - Form And Void [Say What?]

Sian’s Chaos LP unspools further with The Void, its fourth single, a collaboration with Gorgin and indie electro vocalist Idoru that plunges into techno’s darker, introspective fringes. This isn’t a track that panders to peak-time crowds; it’s a heady, immersive experience that demands focus. Idoru’s vocals—fragile yet piercing, like a distant transmission from a post-human realm—hover over Sian and Gorgin’s taut, shadowy production. The duo weaves a lattice of throbbing low-end, razor-sharp synth flickers, and restless, angular percussion that feels alive, almost sentient, drawing you into its orbit. There’s deliberate restraint here, a refusal to overplay its hand, making moments of release hit like a slow-motion implosion. Idoru’s performance, both vulnerable and commanding, adds narrative depth, evoking a drift through an existential chasm. The Void is techno as high art—brooding, meticulous, and utterly transportive. Music that is best experienced in a dimly lit room with a sound system that does it justice.

After a long wait since last November’s ‘Catacomb’, Spektre are back on their home label with some original material, this time in collaboration with Chicago Loop.
Heading things up, the trio wear their oldskool hearts on their sleeves with ‘Shoot From the Hip’ , where crisp breakbeats and classic stabs are smoothly fused onto a bang-up-to-date backing. Alberto Ruiz adds his signature groove and funk to proceedings with a killer remix for less full-on floors, and last but not least: Paul, Rich and Ant give another nod to the 90s with the unashamedly R&S inspired ‘Strobelight’.

RESPEKT is the label manifestation of the internationally recognised artist duo Spektre. It has been developed as a base for the research and exploration of their sound and to experiment within the new and innovative world of electronic music that we live in today.  Derived from an anagram of Spektre, the Respekt label stands for the artist’s interminable belief in the underground soundtrack that spans the globe, and for the inspiration they gleam from producing, performing, and moving in the circles it revolves in.

As two of the most widely respected techno artists to come out of the UK in recent times, founders Paul Maddox & Richard Wakley have travelled the world in the past three years performing the Spektre LIVE show, to rapturous acclaim. While stealing the show at clubs around the globe, they have been inspired by cultures from every dance floor, and as producers they have released on the crème de la crème of techno's elite labels.

Acerbic

Acerbic is the exciting new acid and hard techno project from Ant Wilson, aka Chicago Loop (Tronic/Respekt/Toolroom) and formerly known as DJ ANT (Powertools Records/Stay Up Forever Collective). 

After a 10 year hiatus from acid and hard techno, writing and performing more mainstream techno under the name Chicago Loop, Ant felt that in 2023 it was high time to revisit a scene that he knew and loved so much, the London Underground scene, and therefore created an exciting new project to fulfil this desire. And so Acerbic was born.

Poised to take on the acid and hard techno scene with full force, ACERBIC launched in 2023 with a well received 4-track vinyl release on 'Stay Up Forever’s' sister acid label, ‘Acid Artists in Action’, with the lead track, ‘XXX’, becoming the acid techno anthem of the summer after causing huge scenes at both Glastonbury Festival and Boomtown Fair. This was closely followed by a huge 3 track digital EP on D.A.V.E. The Drummer’s infamous ‘Hydraulix Records’, released to coincide with his main room set at the Hydraulix party with Slam at Club Fold in London last October. Then at the end of the year, two more 4-track vinyl releases were sent to the cutting room and readied for release for 2024. The first one being the hard hitting ‘In Your Face EP’ on the collective's main imprint itself, ’Stay Up Forever’, which was released in March and a storming techno release on ‘Cluster Records’, called 'Ready Player One', released a couple of months later in May. In addition to the SUF and Cluster vinyl releases, he also dropped a slamming 2 track 303 driven acid techno EP, called 'High-Voltage', on Mark Sherry’s 'Techburst Records', a full-force techno slammer on vinyl on Ireland's ‘Interruption Recs’, a killer 4 track digital EP on Belgium's ‘Arkham XXX’, a huge 2 track EP on Canada's ‘Resilient Recordings’, a monster rave anthem on Skirra’s Mechanikal' and finally a slamming remix of Krissmix's' 'Pills Of The 90's' on 'Stay Up Forever'.

It has already been a busy year for ACERBIC releases, but there's more big news yet to be announced! SUFHYDRO (a collaboration label between Stay Up Forever and Hydraulix) is set to release a huge 12 track Acerbic triple vinyl and digital album. Exactly when the release date will be set for is unknown as of yet, but the process of manufacturing has begun on this massive project, so watch this space! Additionally, watch out for a slamming remix of 'Perc's 'Imperial Leather' on  'Perc Trax', due for both vinyl and digital release in February 2025.

The name Chicago Loop has now been firmly stamped throughout the modern world of techno, albeit within a fairly short space of time. The man behind this relatively new alias however, is certainly not a newcomer to the scene. Ant Wilson, or Ant to his friends, has been producing electronic music and traveling the globe playing clubs, events and festivals for the last 25 years from Japan to North and South America, Russia, South Africa, Europe and everywhere in between.

Within just a few years of launching this project, Chicago Loop has secured releases on major labels such as Phobiq, Respekt, Toolroom, Riot, Funk’N Deep, Renesanz and Techburst and his tracks have received continued support from some of the scenes biggest players. His 2016 techno hit, “Use Me” on Techburst Records enjoyed over 200 days in the Beatport Hard Techno chart and sat at the No.1 spot for over 25 days. In addition to the many successes with releases, Chicago Loop has also showcased his sound around the world, playing events in places such as Asia, South America and across Europe. Some highlights have included the legendary “Techno Tuesday Amsterdam” and the sold out “Welcome To The Future Festival” events. 

Always busy in the studio continually writing more techno and with many high profile releases currently being secured, Chicago Loop is certainly making some big waves in the techno scene right now.
