Cleaning out old stuff to make space for the new

Last year I was sorting through my projects folder and exported all the tracks and sketches I realised I was never gonna finish. Eventually I compiled a selection of them into this mixtape titled 'lustrate'

All sounds are made between 2020 - 2022 and reflect very much the energy of this period of time with its' ups and downs - slow yet harsh. Feels good to release it finally and move on.

Today, let's welcome Respira, the alias of Danish artist, producer, sound designer and DJ Markus Trige Frandsen.
Respira creates sonic realms of free form and fluidity, exploring texture, depth, emotion and color of sound. Through the means of both electronic and acoustically generated sound, Respira aims towards union and coherence between nature and technology.

Respira’s creative output is a constantly evolving process, which has been shaped through a vast amount of collaborative projects over the years in the field of music and sound design for various media and activities. This includes music and sound for yoga, guided meditations, audiovisual installations, VR, poetry, performance art, animation film, podcasts etc.

Respira is also co-founder of the label, event production and cultural community Nature Tales in Copenhagen.

This month Respira  makes his debute here on the Ambient Sessions. His piece consists of two live-recordings performed in Nature Tales Studio 2021 / 2022.

The 143rd installment of the Mood Series sees German producer Sven Braun (formerly known as Subliminal) reveal a more personal chapter under his real name. Reflections is a deeply meditative four-track release that floats between dub techno and introspective ambient electro. It’s a subtle but confident reintroduction, with Braun leveraging his experience to craft exciting soundscapes. The title track 'Reflections' opens the EP with slow-moving dub pulses and soft haze, creating a wondrous atmosphere. The effect is transportive, like catching the echo of a long-forgotten moment. Airy textures ripple outward while a quiet rhythmic core anchors the drifting mood. 'Morenos' follows, shifting toward a broken-beat, electro-informed groove. There’s a glacial edge to the icy pads and crisp hi-hats, with an undercurrent of warmth peeking through the synthetic frost. 'Fall Foliage' almost dives further into IDM territory. The track dances gently, cloaked in mist, never insisting but always inviting. Closing the set is the Respira remix of the title track, which plunges into denser, more ambient terrain. Here, static washes and heavy reverb push the track into a dreamlike state, deepening the introspective mood. Throughout Reflections, Braun balances between structure and space, pulling listeners inward. It’s a release that excels with close listening but equally can be music that is put on in the background and let sounds envelop you.
