I haven't tried ableton.  I bought Reason and haven't gotten very far.  Mixmeister is so easy to use, but has its limitations.  Do you use ableton?

I’ve decided to remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  Just felt I could give them a different kinda sound...

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. This is configured to colour, shape the sound. My versions are sometimes lower in vol level than the originals. Some releases are hot to signal, but I'm looking for an inherent sound.

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb.

I played synth telecaster to tracks 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11.
Also played synth rhodes to tracks 7, 9, 12, 13.
Applied variating delay to the last three tracks.

Remist cover features cassette tape cover/back cover, 2000.

One thing is clear when comparing these two songs:  Xenomania's production has a much bigger sound than Trevor Horn's.

Highschool Lover (Air Cover)

The Virgin Suicides is a score by French electronic music duo Air for the film of the same name by Sofia Coppola. The album was released in February 2000. There was a separate soundtrack released, which included music from Heart, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Todd Rundgren. The album was nominated for Best Soundtrack at the 2001 BRIT AwardsThe French edition of Rolling Stone magazine named this album the 49th greatest French rock album (out of 100).
