Kareem, Founder of Zhark Recordings Berlin, has been presenting heavy armoured track material since the year 1996 challenging the auditory, pushing them deep into the abyss.   His definition of the Zharkesthetic lies in conveying a claustrophobic state: an atmosphere of threatening sound architecture constantly challenging the innocuous conventions of the electronic medium(s).

With releases on Sonic Groove, Rudiment, and Voidance, in addition to soundtracks for fashion runways and design companies and to an increasing number of performances in clubs, museums and festivals around Europe, Ex.Hale has become a formidable force in electronic and experimental music.

Dark Drum and Bass

The air hummed with something unnamed, as if the ground had been holding its breath for eons. Underfoot, the terrain gave way with a yielding softness that spoke of histories unrecorded. No familiar scent greeted the lungs, only the crisp echo of untouched vastness.

Above, the expanse stretched with a color never charted, neither azure nor gray but something suspended between memory and dream. Shapes moved at the edge of perception—too fluid to be cloud, too deliberate to be wind. The light, sharp yet forgiving, spilled across surfaces with an intelligence of its own, carving out form from the unknown.

Each step forward unraveled a new layer—textures that shimmered without moisture, foliage that responded not to touch but to attention. Stones pulsed faintly, as though bearing witness. In the distance, a ridge curved like the shoulder of some sleeping giant, its contours ancient and unspoken.

Breath came slow. Not from fatigue, but awe. What stretched ahead was not invitation nor warning—it simply was, immense and indifferent, as if awaiting no one yet aware it was being seen for the very first time.

And in that gaze, something shifted—not just in the place, but in the one watching.
