For slyn, music is a natural extension of her life as a marine biologist. " Water. Hydrofeminism. Sea snails. Water flows through us all and connects us all. And unconsciously, that comes out a lot in my sets. The flow of water. How it connects body to nature, nature to body. I like the concept of us not being individual beings, but connected through the water that flows through us, our rivers, our seas. I want that flow in my sets, or try to create that flow. I am always thinking about the layering and connectivity of the songs. Rarely will you hear one song on its own. I tend to be more attracted to natural-sounding music than heavily synthetic, probably for this reason.”

This mix carries a more introspective tone than usual. "In the last months, I have been healing from heartbreak and the loss of someone important from my life." While slyn’s ambient sets are typically light, bubbly and textured, this one takes on a moody depth, balancing sorrow with acceptance. Returning to Glasgow from a 3 week trip to Berlin, slyn channeled a newfound clarity into the set. An emotional release reflecting the persistence of life beyond loss.

She is increasingly focused on hydrophone and field recordings and hopes to start releasing tracks incorporating these sounds in the near future. She is deeply involved with the label and event series https://soundcloud.com/coclear , a long-time source of inspiration, and recently co-founded @ skinny.dipping__, a Glasgow-based event series that highlights women, non-binary, and trans artists inhabiting the off-kilter grey space between club/dance, experimental, and ambient music.
