For this edition of the L.I.E.S. artist podcast series we welcome the one and only Willie Burns. Also known as William Thomas Burnett, bossman of W.T. Records, Burnett is a veteran of the game as he's been deep behind enemy lines for a long long time. If you're looking, you can usually find Burnett deep in the basement of The Thing, the largest used record store in all of NYC or in his studio down the block working late into the night as he sips a bottle of moderately priced red wine. 

Never one to follow the trends, here we have Burnett mixing almost an hours worth of what he describes as "early street techno trance" a genre which undoubtedly has been now brought to the forefront from his days digging in the basement of the Thing. Done in one take, it's wild breakbeat driven, trance-laden trip as the author suggested, so get ready to take a pill and throw your hands in the air.

Hailing from Réunion, a volcanic Island in mids of the Indian Ocean, Aurélie grew up with the local rhythms Séga and Maloya, to later get soaked into Punk and New Wave. In her 20ies she finds her love for house, techno and electro, and starts organise parties and curate events such as the Electropicales Festival in St Denis, the islands main city. In her sets you can hear that seldom combination of afro rhythms and dark electronics, of heavy body music and mesmerizing psychedelia. Like Réunion Island her musical approach is characterized by a fascinating mixed identity and cultural diversity, that is both intense as the island's volcano and seductive as its cuisines.

WTF! This semi-staged picture does not say anything about the unbelievably great time I had in Stockholm last weekend. Fantastic food from The Hotel At Six kitchen for a start, deliciously eccentric drinks by Juan and then this heavenly cozy room set up by Victor! I brought a lot of personal faves to listen to over the insane sound system there. Some of the things I usually only listen to when I'm alone, because they make me cry (yes I'm a sissy, look at the pic). And some tracks that I never found the right spot to play out. Just like the first song: It's called "Sex" by the Necks and it's 56 minutes long. In my bag for years and it never made it out (it's a CD!)This saturday I had to give it a try. I have actually not expected it being perfect for this room. But hell yeah - time got irrelevant after half an hour and people were diving in it. 
Now the bummer. The recording didn't start properly and - even worse - stopped accidently after one hour and a half. Still it's a nice listen and I hope you enjoy this like I did enjoy the weekend.
