@retrogameaudio: what you must've been looking at there was the references for ppMCK, which does indeed have a limit of 64 custom patches, but that's a limitation of the software, not the hardware. Custom patch definitions are literally just 8 writes to the chip's registers and are not stored anywhere on the chip and the max you could have is determined by how much space you have in your game's ROM.
