After a 13-year break, the time has finally arrived for a return to the turntables. The decision to reignite the passion for DJing was not merely a choice but a calling. After watching my kids grow into adults, I felt the time was right to get back to what I love doing.

The return to the decks is more than just a hobby—it's a homecoming, a reclamation of identity, and a celebration of a love affair that knows no bounds. Some passions are simply too powerful to remain dormant forever.

When I DJ now, including my recordings, everything is live and captured in one set. It would be easy to correct mistakes, but that wouldn't be authentic. I want listeners to experience a true live set. When I buy new tunes, I select my starting track from the recent acquisitions, then let the rhythm decide the rest.

Retropolis is the brain child of producer Sam White hailing from North West England, rooted in breakbeat with a love of piano, this project has grown and evolved into a bass driven monster.

Nominated in the International Breakspoll 2014, Best Breakthrough Producer category and a regular name in the Beatport Breaks Chart, Retropolis is making waves in the breaks community.

Having releases on US label For the Love of Breaks, Propaganda Music, Booty Trax, Warehouse Wax, The Pooty Club Records, Kode5 Recordings, Rave Style’e and others, there is plenty more to come.

The Retropolis dirty breaks style receives support from Sanxion, The Flashback Project, Vinyl Junkie, Kid Panel and KL2 to name a few.

Rated in DJ Mag at 8.5 on the Richter scale for the ‘Retropolis – I Said No EP’ , Funk and Filth blog described him as “Thundering onto the scene” and  “One of the stand out artists & DJ’s of the last 12 months.” Receiving acclaim both in the UK and internationally, with his old school style of rave-breaks, blended with electro and filthy basslines, Retropolis’ DJ sets are cross-genre monsters, filling dancefloors with serious bass faces.

Spinning everything from retro dance and 90s club classics to hard house, trance, progressive and breakbeat — Mikey-P brings the energy of old-school rave culture with a deep respect for the sounds that shaped it.

Influenced by the DJs who gave him his first shot behind the decks — Buster, Jonno, Jamie C, Dave Graham, Daz G, and Kes — he’s carried a little piece of each of them into every set. With nods to local legend Stuart Wright and the iconic sounds of Zone, Madisons, Old Hall and Sachas tapes, Mikey blends nostalgia with passion in every mix.

Under both Mikey-P and his alias V.E.R.D.U, expect nothing but feel-good tunes, underground bangers, and a genuine love for the craft.
