Trident expertly channels the early 90’s classic era with ‘Detonator EP’, a truly epic release which brings the finest Jungle Techno energy of the genres peak and smashes it well and truly into 2023, taking you between the bright lights of the main rooms and deep into darkened sweatbox corners of the most labyrinthine underground rave.

The EP opens with the Jungle Techno monster ‘Detonator’, which guarantees dancefloor explosions like a long-lost Easygroove classic, a techno dread which stomps across all competition with its energetic mix of ominous synths and squelchy acid lines.

The amen-led ‘Far-Away Dreams (VIP)’, builds on the hypnotic bell tones of the original track, and toughens things up to move into a heads-down dancefloor direction.

‘XTC’ showcases Trident’s burgeoning skills and creativity, with his trademark dub techno influences overlapping beautifully with euphoric rave moments for an energetic yet introspective workout.

The EP closes with ‘Detonator (Microcosm Remix), which sees the Codename: newcomer turn the original on its head with a rolling hardcore junglist remix which complements the original perfectly, and primes it for destruction in more break oriented dancefloors.

Retropolis is the brain child of producer Sam White hailing from North West England, rooted in breakbeat with a love of piano, this project has grown and evolved into a bass driven monster.

Nominated in the International Breakspoll 2014, Best Breakthrough Producer category and a regular name in the Beatport Breaks Chart, Retropolis is making waves in the breaks community.

Having releases on US label For the Love of Breaks, Propaganda Music, Booty Trax, Warehouse Wax, The Pooty Club Records, Kode5 Recordings, Rave Style’e and others, there is plenty more to come.

The Retropolis dirty breaks style receives support from Sanxion, The Flashback Project, Vinyl Junkie, Kid Panel and KL2 to name a few.

Rated in DJ Mag at 8.5 on the Richter scale for the ‘Retropolis – I Said No EP’ , Funk and Filth blog described him as “Thundering onto the scene” and  “One of the stand out artists & DJ’s of the last 12 months.” Receiving acclaim both in the UK and internationally, with his old school style of rave-breaks, blended with electro and filthy basslines, Retropolis’ DJ sets are cross-genre monsters, filling dancefloors with serious bass faces.
