Daniel Shrum, also known as Sokotta is a house and techno music producer based in Ottawa. His raw passion for electronic music began in 2013 when he first heard the genre and fell in love with everything electronic.

Sokotta’s distinctive sound is all about the underground. His musical ethos fluctuates between groovy house and bass beats,  and a flare for female vocals. He has an affinity for ‘mature wubs’, a term he proudly coined. 

Sokotta spends all of his free time in the studio, refining his vintage underground bass-y sound, and playing his music in Canadian clubs and Festivals across Canada. His most recent releases were signed by Rock Bottom and Sorta Kinda, and had a very positive reception in the dance community.

In 2024, he made his MainStage debut at ÎleSoniq, performing alongside Ghetto Birds for their explosive collaboration “Like an 808”, marking a defining moment in his career. His international footprint continues to grow, with a debut performance in France.
