UK pianist and singer Reuben James today releases So Cool, the second single from his forthcoming EP Slow Down. So Cool is an exquisitely chilled, jazz-inflected R&B jam that showcases James’ innate knack of combining compelling storytelling with catchy hooks. 
So Cool follows the release last month of the EP’s lead single My Line, which featured guest spots for vocalist and producer Col3trane, East-London rapper Jay Prince, Quincy Jones collaborator Vula, and jazz trailblazer Soweto Kinch. 

Millions around the world have enjoyed the music of Birmingham-born pianist and singer Reuben James. Having toured the globe three times performing with Sam Smith, including shows at The Oscars and The Grammys, and having contributed songs to Smith’s 4 million-selling album The Thrill Of It All, as well as collaborations with a long line of illustrious artists including Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Herbie Hancock, Elton John and Tori Kelly, James is beginning to make a name for himself in his own right.

Fast-emerging British singer, songwriter and pianist Reuben James’ virtuoso jazz techniques and soulful, evocative voice have led him to be widely regarded as one the most exciting and creatively assured artists to have emerged in recent years.

Although perhaps best known for his ongoing collaborations with Sam Smith, which have included co-writing songs for Smith’s 4 million-selling album The Thrill of It All, James has written for and performed with an array of international star acts including the likes of Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Tori Kelly, Little Mix, Disclosure and Liam Payne amongst many others.

Reuben has been working on his own material, exploring the boundaries between jazz and pop. His debut EP Adore landed to critical acclaim in 2019 and his new EP Slow Down is due for release in June 2020.
