I don't know the first thing about scoring or cinematic composition, but I've always wanted to try to compose a little cue in that style, so here I am giving it a shot.

I have been struggling a lot with the mixing part in this one, but I guess the result is sufficient to have a general idea of what it's about. Maybe one day I'll improve on my mixing skills ;)

Hybrid

A track made in collaboration with my dear childhood friend Oboro.

Oboro is excellent at writing soundtrack-styled music, but for me this one was a first. I didn't know anything about writing, recording or mixing orchestral instruments, but when he sent me his harp and piano parts, I felt very thrilled and it really pushed me to learn a lot about arranging and classical composition.

I'm more than happy I have been able to collaborate with him (and we'll probably continue doing so), so huge thanks to him for his talent and lifelong friendship !

Oboro & JayKyuu - Untold Stories

This is a little ditty I wrote recently after a massive, yearlong case of "writer's block" : I've been trying too hard to record a rock track for a while now, but have been insatisfied with most of my scratch tracks.

Since it was paining me not to have any musical output whatsoever, I did what any "creative" mind with an ounce of common sense would do : I put it aside for a moment and started something else !

Ever since my collab with Oboro, I've had half a mind to delve into orchestral, sountrack-ish territory again. I've also been listening to lots of fantastic and inspiring video game soundtracks recently (Journey, Sunless Sea, Braid, Titan Souls, Ori and the Blind Forest). Both these factors made the choice of genre pretty easy, and I was surprised how naturally the notes came, considering my recent lack of creativity !

Anyway, blabbing over ! As usual I just hope you'll enjoy the music :-)

This is a little experiment I made to try and compose something in a genre I know nothing about : Lo-Fi music

Resolve

Ceci est un jeu, créer une musique en coopération et dans un intervalle de temps restreint, afin de garder un côté improvisé, inattendu et sans préparation.
Un des participants poste une boucle mélodique en signalant son tempo (7s ~ 15s).
Les autres participants partent alors de cette boucle pour y ajouter chacun une ou plusieurs couche(s), qu’ils postent à leur tour.
Une fois tous en possession d’une dizaine de couches, chacun fait un petit arrangement personnel (1 minute) de ces couches qu’il poste ensuite.
Les arrangement postés, vient alors le montage final, qui agrémentera cet espace.
Voilà.
