SMOOVE - A QUEST CALLED TRIBE SPECIAL EXTENDED RAP

Created in 1990 using a Tascam 244 four track cassette recorder, a few reverb and delay fx units and a wide collection of vinyl, I created this ambient mixtape.
I gave a few copies of the mixtape to selected close friends but unfortunately we lost our copies over time... that is until recently, when a cd burn of the mix turned up in a friends collection 32 years later!

Born during lockdown (wasn't everything) Smoove decided to embark on a new project called Multitrack Reworks, by sourcing rare studio original tapes containing individual stems / multitrack layers. At first it was just out of curiosity to see if he could extract drum layers, but once he started digging Smoove had unearthed something rather special. 

Everything from Grace Jones to David Bowie, Chaka Khan and Barry White, has all went under Smoove's meticulous scalpel blade. Using his extensive DJ background and creative production knowledge, Smoove delivers beautifully mixed, extended versions, while keeping the original artists in mind and treating each track with the utmost respect. Extended intros, exposed breakdowns and playful build ups with epic drops!

He has recorded a special mix for the Monument City Festival, serving as an anticipation for his upcoming performance during the festival on the weekend of April 20th.

Na Nich began his musical journey in the late 90s under the moniker Sunchase and quickly gained recognition with prominent releases on labels like Moving Shadow and DSCI4. Later, he expanded his sound and started his own labels, Kvadrat and 22:22, and became one of the founding members of Rhythm Büro.

Alexander is now an accomplished techno and breakbeat producer, sought after mastering engineer, and has even had his music featured in video games. He is known for his love of analog gear and his highly regarded live setup, and regardless of genre, his music always showcases his trademark groove and engineering perfection.

ABSIS is Salva Coromina, a regular DJ on the Barcelona scene since the late 90s under the alias mouseDown/MouseUp. He was a resident DJ at The Loft (Razzmatazz) and a regular at Sonar for many years, he has always been exploring the deepest side of electronic music moving from ambient to techno. ABSIS currently runs his monthly residency at Club Laut in Barcelona under the name of Midline, where he has invited DJs such as Vand, Daniel(i), Unjin, Doctrina Natura, Mod1, John Plaza, Guillam, Fon... he is also a resident of the festival MOSTRA in Barcelona and its productions are published on labels such as hivern discs and Oslated among others.

Ukrainian DJ and musician who fills the dance floor with the spirit of mysticism and harmony. The Svarog project began its existence in 2014, with a release on the Spanish label Circular Limited. Since then, the artist has released a lot of music on top labels of the genre, such as Semantica Records, Dynamic Reflection, AFFIN, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Crescent London, Psylocybina and others. He performed in almost all countries of the continent, at famous venues and clubs.

His music dives you into a hypnotic atmosphere, sometimes with epic or dramatic accents. Landscape textures and saturated timbres in the tracks create a magical flow, forcing the listener to dive deep into dance or meditation.

Modern and futuristic sounds, far from trendiness and simplicity, aesthetics, harmony and a bit of mysticism from the heart to all intelligent dancefloors out there.

My next guest on Yax Invites is Axis Alpha, a Czech DJ based in Prague. 

His creative work circles around underground electronic music from which it was the hypnotic techno that slowly began to take precedence over others. Delivering hypnotic and trippy grooves with atmospheric textures established him in Prague’s techno scene, playing in clubs like Bike Jesus, Altenburg or Cross. Since 2022 he is a part of Weltraum, Prague-based collective of friends enjoying deep, high-intensity techno music who love to play it together. In 2023 he teamed up with Nior to further enhance listener’s trippy experiences by regularly playing b2b together.

Revelation Session is pleased to present Utopian. Utopian is Isidro Bolívar’s moniker. He was born in the south of Spain and from an early age he always had a soft spot for introspective music, no matter if it was floor-oriented or home-listening. As a Dj he takes hypnotism as the foundations of his craft, although, his sets can take many shapes, tribal, deep, minimal or melodic depending on the mood.
A few years ago, he discovered a new wave of Italian techno musicians like Donato Dozzy and especially Marco Shuttle which was a life-changing moment for him. This would define his technique, dj skills and mindset. Focusing on a more progressive based built up and smooth transitions. Musically speaking Utopian keeps an open eye on new releases but also on old hidden gems and will play them within the same set as long as the music pairs harmonically and respect the timeless quality of techno aesthetics.
He played a few gigs at Alpenglühen, a notorious forward-thinking techno night run by the internationally respected F-ON in Madrid. 
He closing set at Calma festival (Madrid) this time with a more tribal-ambient approach to a crowd sitting and completely immersed in music. More  recently he played at perpendicular fest and the mythical club of southern Spain industrial copera.
Apart from being a Dj, Isidro was an active promoter while living in Madrid. Confessed digger and record collector and currently experimenting with music in the studio. He also recently created a space for local artists to express themselves by performing through ambient and immersive techno streaming sessions, his name is "espacio ingrávido".
He currently lives in Granada, in the south of Spain. There he has formed a collective with his partners and friends Fran Acosta and Kaizen (Antonio Moreno), their name is Klub Collective, and they have invited great national and international artists such as Acronym, Estrato Aurora, Atoloi or Cobahn".

As a native of the southern Belgian city of Charleroi, OWL started off in its drum & bass scene. If you listen closely, it isn’t hard to hear the influence of these roots in his sound signature to this day. From the ambient landscapes to the high-tempo tracks, Owl has put together beautiful releases on standout labels like Silent Season, Lowless Records, Huinali Recordings, re:st and DNO.

Hailing from Glasgow Fernie has immersed himself in the world of deep and hypnotic techno giving his own atmospheric take channeled through his own productions and sets. Most recently Fernie has released on Informa with his well received Spatial Awareness EP and teamed up with fellow Scottish artists Deepbass and Repart to promote their Orbits events. Fernie also continues to run his own Space Textures (@spacetextures) imprint pushing both new artists and established names music and teams with Norwegian based Monument (@monument-podcast) to curate their iconic podcast series.
