Le single OPEN FIRE marque le retour en 2022 de REVERSE ENGINEERING, une des références de l’électro hip-hop suisse, 7 ans après le dernier opus SCHEMERS (2015). Il se veut comme le coup d’envoi d’une nouvelle série de productions originales, renouant avec la patte sonore typique qui a fait la renommée du duo.

OPEN FIRE parachute l’auditeur dans un paysage à priori hostile et radioactif, duquel se dégage toutefois une beauté naturelle qui se laisse contempler indéfiniment. Les basses profondes et les rythmiques puissantes communient avec les mélodies aériennes, offrant au tableau d’un monde en ruine des jeux de lumières saisissants.

3 years in the making, 3 DJs working with over 150 tracks to recreate one of the seminal sampling albums of all time. Cheeba, Moneyshot and I bring you ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’, our tribute to the classic Beastie Boys album ‘Paul’s Boutique’. Remixed and re-imagined from all the original samples plus a cappellas, period interviews and the Beasties’ own audio commentary from the reissued release.

Add to this a custom illustration from Paul’s Boutique super-fan and all-round great guy Jim Mahfood, and you have an alternate version of the album. The mix was over half way finished when we heard the tragic news of Adam Yauch‘s passing this May so this is also our nod to his memory, RIP MCA.

Big respect to Cheeba and Moneyshot for all their hard work and for the latter for inspiring the project with his classic mix of their ‘Check Your Head’ three years ago. Obviously massive respect goes out to The Beasties, The Dust Brothers, Mario C. and all involved in the making of the original album.

Run The Jewels - Get It




Formed in 2002, the Swiss duo RE distils an abstract hip-hop sound in the line of the British labels Ninja Tune or Warp.  Their universe is tinted by multiple electronic effects tracing complex moods evolving around cold mechanics, a war-like temperament and futuristic poetry.

Coming from the hip-hop movement in its freest form, RE released in more than 10 years two albums on the Jarring Effects label, numerous EP, as well as singles or remix works (with, among others, OY, Talen or Xewin).  The duo colloborated with artists such as Blu Rum 13 (acolyte of DJ Vadim), M. Sayyid (Antipop Consortium), Mike Ladd (Likemadd, Big Dada), .not to mention B. Dolan (Sage Francis) and notably warming up the stages of Paleo., Montreux Jazz Festival, Les Nuits Sonores, Electron Festival, Bar En Trans, Avant Art Festival at Wroclaw as well as at the Electro-Mechanica Festival at Saint Petersburg.
