After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.

For the past 2 years, all my focus has been on building, running and growing Revolution DNB with my partner and the rest of the crew. It's been a real adventure and it's incredible to see how far it has come in just under 2 years. 

We ran 4 events in Plymouth and Bristol, did countless takeovers across the southwest and so much more. 2020 was meant to be an incredible year with some huge opportunities. But, like so many others, the year turned south and all plans had to be put on hold; including our 1 year Birthday Event. 
Instead of simply accepting defeat, we evolved the brand into a record label and had some incredible releases and feedback from the Revolution Ravers. 

In all of that time, I very much let my own artist promo go to shit. I haven't given much love to the people that have followed me on here or even on my social media pages. In 2021 this is all going to change. 

This year I will be setting myself the goal of releasing at least 1 free download on my soundcloud page each month. This is mainly to thank everyone that has followed and supported me from the early days, and hopefully I can reach some new people with my style of DNB. 

Today I am bringing you an additional track that I finished late last year. Consider this an introduction and teaser to this Free Download Series. There will be another track dropping before the end of January. 

Thank you all for your support, both for the love people have shown for Revolution DNB and the continued love I get for my releases.
