Joe and 'Chelle live in austerity Britain. When they leave school, Joe doesn't make the grades for University, but 'chelle does. Joe and 'chelle meet at a DJ gig and Joe's DJ mate suggests they all meet up to party at the late set. Party time and all are having a good time until 'chelle collapses - bad designer drug from DJ man - all leg it except Joe who stays. Paramedic pronounces bad news and 'chelle is rushed to hospital accompanied by Joe. They become an item and move in together. They can't get work; living off benefits, life is bleak. The state is invasive, routinely using Drones to spy on the populous - particularly those on benefits. Joe and 'chelle feel like prisoners. In desperation, 'chelle writes to her University tutor for advice on how to get a job. He replies that, with Europe in turmoil with riots against austerity and unemployment and a resurgence of Facism in Spain, she should go there and get under the skin of what is happening and then write a scoop - if it's good, she will get her chance.

She and Joe up sticks & head for Spain; he works in an "English" pub to earn a living while she struggles to meet people who understand the new politics. Joe is introduced to an Englishman who is an arms dealer on the run from UK and US authorities. He tells Joe about one of his contacts, Zac who is involved with an armed group planning a Coup. The Englishman agrees to set up a meeting for 'chelle if she agrees to spend the night with him. After much wrangling with her morals and loyalty to Joe she agrees.  Zac is no Partisan. He is a mercenary intent on profiteering from a second Spanish civil war. He explains why people are being driven to join his group - no jobs, no money while the super rich in Europe thumb their noses at governments and workers alike. He explains that he and the Englishman will be the facilitators that light the fire for a new Europe. Whilst sympathetic, she has a dilemma - does she keep this secret? She shares her thoughts with Joe, who cautions that going to the authorities would endanger both their lives. 

Zac invites 'chelle to attend a rally; Joe also goes. Things turn nasty and the Police open fire with live ammunition, Joe is shot by the Police and dies in 'chelle's arms. She returns to the UK with her article & videos. A TV executive offers 'chelle a job as war correspondent.

As a recognised face on TV every day, she has become famous and achieved her goal, but life is empty – nothing has changed in the outside world for the better and she feels that she has paid a high price for fame. Despairing of the lack of change and the uncaring attitude of the Big Brother state, she leaves the TV station to campaign on the streets for a new Europe: To oust the bureaucrats and professional politicians and build a new Europe for the people, run by the people.
