KAHU is a proud Māori DJ, producer, and event promoter of Ngāti Kahu and Ngāti Kuri descent. Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), he recently relocated to Naarm (Melbourne), marking the beginning of an exciting new solo chapter.

KAHU first broke into the Aotearoa music scene in 2010, making his debut at the iconic Be Club at just 17 years old. Not long after, he joined forces with CAM BAV to form the high-energy DJ duo BAVHU. Known for their spontaneous B2B sets that blend House, Funk, Booty, and Bass, BAVHU quickly built a loyal following. They've since become festival favourites, with standout performances at Rhythm & Vines, Springbreak, 121 Festival, Our House, and most notably, Hidden Valley x Boiler Room in 2022.

Post-Boiler Room, BAVHU has continued evolving their sound—merging classic House, Funk, and Disco with modern drum programming and live elements like saxophone and trumpet solos. Beyond the booth, BAVHU also hosts THE BRIGHTSIDE, a weekly Sunday show on George FM, New Zealand’s premier electronic radio station, where they deliver their signature feel-good sound to listeners nationwide.

Now based in Naarm, KAHU’s solo sets reflect a rich and diverse musical journey spanning over 15 years. His sound is a high-energy blend of House edits, UKG, Jersey Club, Breakbeat, and Baile Funk—offering a fresh perspective rooted in both his heritage and global club culture.

In addition to his DJ and production work, KAHU co-runs JUICE, an event series and creative platform launched alongside fellow Kiwi SAMMIE. JUICE shines a spotlight on emerging and established artists from both Aotearoa and Australia, creating space for cross-Tasman collaboration and connection on the dancefloor.
