Owl Party (Snippet)

With well over 30 years of mixing experience; this genre of mix means the most to me as it includes many tracks from my first few crates of vinyl. I knew I had discovered something special between mid 1989 & early 1991 when I became aware of this new raw music. For me 1990 is where the fusion in the production became interesting. Hardcore rave had arrived and it was unlike anything I had ever heard. Laced with bleeps, bass, break beats, stomping techno and acid it would pave the way for generations of genres to come. This was my musical epiphany. This was my sound. This was my era!

This is my hardcore mix. There are many like it but this one is mine!

this is the 21st chapter in a series of mixes called 'trust me i was there' - these are the tracks that were big in the clubs and on the radio stations i played on and listened to - there are some bangers in here.
in 1992 i was on impact (or it might have been format by then) with my dj partner Swift - we did every sat and sunday 4 hours both nights, then hung out in the studio in case a cover show came up. i think eager is the word :D

Well here it is, this mix has been a very long time in gestation, around twenty years to be precise! Finally I have had the time to start collating what I hope to be a series of mixes celebrating why I love this music quite as much as I do! 

Using only the original vinyl to give them all the real ‘feel’ of the early nineties DJ tapes (no cheating on Ableton, nasty mp3's or additional production here folks!) so it's just like back in the day (but no tape hiss or crappy MC's!)
