Rhapsod ( Youssoupha Féhé Sarr) is a young artist born in Dakar plateau. His story to music dates back to his childhood as he was the youngest of musician (artist) brotherhood. he discovers music thanks to his older brothers that have diverse musical genres and played guitar. He found himself in love with hop-hop when he came accoss a T.V show called HIP-HOP FEELING.
He began to be familiar to freestyle and chose Rhapsod as stage name refering to those antiquity poets travelling from cities to cities. Rhapsod considers himself the same way wandering from one soul to another leaving the poems that life inspires him.
The thing really happened in 2011, when he met at university friends with who he founds a band. They gave themselves the mission to make ( produce, create) a live hip-hop issued from their diverse musical influences (afro,jazz, rock, blufunk, soul...) Then the band with Rhapsod as vocal lead (singer) and guitar participate to many events in Saint-louis as in Dakar. While the Saint-Louis university adventure goes to its end, the musical adventure continues. Some musicians took other paths and new musicians came.
Rhapsod wants to bring a significant contribution with a roots HIP HOP made of diverse sounds and deep sought lyrics in diverse languages (wolof enflish french serer) engaged socially, which also deal with humanity, spirituality and decolonisation of minds within other themes. He wants to make a HIP HOP free from the standards imposed by neoliberal establishment that african actors most the time undergo unconsciously, a HIP HOP with an identity that reflects his hybrid culture, away from the clichets. That's what explain his stage name Afreekindman (African man), the name he gives to his musical genre Afreekind HIP HOP (African hip hop) and his independant label Afreekindmind (African mind).
