Sophie Lloyd’s debut on Classic Music Company ‘Calling Out’ came last year as an antidote to the pervading doom and gloom of the news and a dreary winter, and inspired remixes from David Penn, Danny Krivit, Riva Starr and Floorplan. Her follow up single ‘Raise Me Up’ sees her re-unite with soul trio Dames Brown to deliver a dose of gospel-infused, joyous, uplifting house music. Sophie’s impeccable knowledge of disco and soul shines through on the record, with organ chords and rhythmic percussion bringing the authentic gospel sound of countless classics. This release also features a remix from fellow Londoner Alan Dixon, who brings his signature disco-laced sound to the release, his remix upping the tempo and with a harder bassline that makes the track more club-focussed.

London based DJ and producer Dan Shake gets tapped to supply the next release on Denis Sulta’s Sulta Selects offshoot Silver Service with ‘Daisy’s Dance / Bert’s Groove’, a pair of disco-tinged house cuts with raw dancefloor energy. 

Since emerging with a standout 12" on Moodymann's Mahogani Music label, Dan Shake has moved from strength to strength. Throughout his career he's released on Lumberjacks In Hell, Delusions Of Grandeur and has built a stacked catalogue of originals material via his own Shake imprint. Now he continues his strong output in 2019 with big room house flavors on his latest EP, proving he's one of the most reliable purveyors of club-focused anthems in the game today.

And the Black Loops phenomenon continues… Fresh from a whole slew of killer releases this year on the likes of Happiness Therapy, Neovinyl, Madhouse and Smile & Stay High, the Berlin-based Italian return to Pets with this almighty four-piece that runs their entire groove gamut. 
The long-awaited follow-up to their evergreen ‘For The Lovers’ EP in 2017, once again they not only tick every box but tickle every inch of your music-addicted soul. Easing us in gently with a little cosmic UKG, ‘Gwei Lo’ is a two-step teaser with all the magic we’ve come to know and love Black Loops for. Deeper again we rifle through the styles like 12”s in a dusty crate… ‘Unity’ keeps the garage theme but with much more of New York or New Jersey style vibe, especially in those epically thudding kicks. ‘Keep A Secret’ is just beautiful deepness with shades of Europe and the West Coast. Somewhere between Ian Pooley and Hipp-E & Halo in a state of perpetual sunset. 
Last but not least, we hit ‘Born In The 80s’. Don’t be fooled by the title, this ain’t no nostalgic throwback; it’s another timeless slab of deep house heaven where the era is referenced beautifully in the gentle, dreamy but insistent melody that folds and pleats so majestically over the top, it’s one of those tunes that really does make you forget where you are and what era you’re in. After releasing the ‘High Life' remixes just before summer and their more electronic EP on Aus Music, it’s time to get label heads Detroit Swindle back on Heist. They come in with full force, delivering a set of Swindle styled house tracks, accompanied by a jazzy remix by Volcov in his Isoul8 moniker with guest appearances by Kaidi Tatham on keys and Nigel Bennett on vocals.

The EP kicks off with ‘The life behind things’; a life affirming soulful house tune that’s cleverly built around a set of switching organ stabs. The energy in this track keeps on building with the filter slowly opening up while live percussion oozes its way through the track (courtesy of Mauskovic Dance Band member Chris Bruining). After a well working surprise acid break, the track breaks down into a jazzy organ solo by Byron the Aquarius, building up momentum till the full track comes back in for a ecstatic delivery of feel-good dancefloor emotions.
