In Italo House Aficionados Part 8 we are going back to the warm & sexy Italian House & Garage sound of the early 90s.
As usual I made a selection of known and unknown tracks, including some rarities like Check The Mind, Deseo and Cassandra Project. A special mention goes out to Daniele 'Shield' Contrini. He managed to track down and license the unreleased Leopardo Boom Boom Remix of E.V.O.E.'s "I Don't Wanna Give Up Your Love" for the "Ciao Italia" (vinyl) compilations on Rebirth Records. This track was on top of my wantlist for many years, and one of the last missing pieces of my Italian House Collection. So this one's very special to me.

This mix is my tribute to the sound that once lit up dance floors around the world. A musical journey into sun-drenched Italy of the early ’90s, the golden era of Italo House.

A five-hour trip through warm (Deep) House and Garage, classic Italian Latino/Ambient House, the occasional ‘piano screamer’, closing off with the more progressive  Italian Techno sound.

I put a lot of time into the preparation: selecting the music, recording and cleaning up the 12-inches for the best possible sound quality. Then came the mixing process, weaving together over 70 tracks into one five-hour musical journey. All in all, a months-long project I worked on with joy, love and dedication.

Enjoy the ride, and hopefully this mix takes you back to the warm, Mediterranean sound of the golden era of Italo House: 1990-1993. A quietly influential genre that continues to inspire new generations.

Questo mix è il mio omaggio al sound che, un tempo, accendeva le piste da ballo di tutto il mondo. Un viaggio musicale nell’Italia baciata dal sole dei primi anni ’90: l’epoca d’oro dell’Italo House.

Un viaggio di cinque ore attraverso la calda Deep House e Garage, la classica Latino/Ambient House italiana, con qualche immancabile “piano screamer” (come direbbero in Inghilterra), e un finale più progressivo, firmato Italian Techno.

Ho dedicato moltissimo tempo alla preparazione: la selezione musicale, la registrazione e la pulizia dei 12" per ottenere la miglior qualità sonora possibile.
Poi è arrivata la fase del mixaggio: oltre 70 tracce intrecciate in un’unica storia musicale lunga cinque ore. Un progetto durato mesi, realizzato con gioia, passione e dedizione.

Buon ascolto! Spero che questo viaggio ti riporti al suono caldo e mediterraneo dell’epoca d’oro dell’Italo House: 1990-1993.
Un genere, spesso sottovalutato, che ancora oggi continua a ispirare nuove generazioni.

Episode 300. It's a bit special, isn’t it?
When I rebooted UNG back in 2016, I definitely didn’t imagine I’d still be at it nine years later. That definitely wouldn’t have happened without the musical input of the (now official) co-hosts of this show: Sven Otten and Pat Lezizmo.

Which makes this the perfect moment to share the set I played at Café George during Amsterdam Dance Event.
Big thanks to Rob Boskamp for giving me the chance to get behind the decks and play for an actual crowd again after way too long. And of course, props to Good Old Dave for keeping things lively as always. :)
Since Café George is a restaurant, I decided to keep things on the smoother side. I figured some 90s grooves would pair nicely with garlic prawns or pasta carbonara. Caron Wheeler or De La Soul just go down easier than pounding house beats.
