'Brittle Love' [SLP010] is a suite of songs scratched together from the teary depths of a computerised pop dream. From a few raggedy Technicolor melodies bloom luscious strings, xylophones, and drum machines. But something’s not quite right: you can almost hear the sticky-tape holding together the synthesisers, the vocals are forever slipping away from the beat. This is pin-point electronic music put together with Early Learning Centre scissors, a pot of PVA glue, and a page of Lonely Hearts classifieds ripped from a regional newspaper.

Joe Snape makes precise music in bright colours with the help of electricity. He grew up in England’s Birmingham with a glockenspiel mallet for a dummy, and wants very much to make strange songs that delight. He is particularly committed to the kind of sounds that, if they were people, would be the last picked for sides in a game of schoolyard football. He lives in Berlin, and is happily myopic. His work, solo and together with others, has been presented at festivals and venues including Melkweg (Amsterdam), ACUD Theatre (Berlin), Supersonic (Birmingham), Café Oto (London), Wonder Site (Tokyo), and The Kitchen (New York City). He studied for old-school music degrees at Cambridge, Oxford, and at the Institute of Sonology.

The record, called Fleck EP, features work by Michael Cutting and Vitalija Glovackyte alongside mine; all of which are fixed-media reimaginings of a live show we've been touring since May 2015. Released through PAN via digital and a limited edition SD Card as well as a series of live performances, Deceptionista combines the relentless unknowability of the real-time internet with ADR's distinct compositional approach, seeking to accelerate detailed, high-definition visions of public intimacies into a form of 21st century psychedelia; which embraces the cognitive derangement of the senses that defines the habits of today's internet browsing constituency.
 
As a classically trained musician with a propensity towards contemporary art & technology practices, ADR's work has distinguished itself through its formal deliriousness and playful tenor. In addition to his work as one half of the critically acclaimed Gatekeeper duo, ADR releases solo recordings, composes bespoke music for film, TV and advertising, and hosts an array of ongoing collaborations and maintains a practice of live performance and sound installation.
 
The project's visual representation takes the form of a playable video game-like environment where users can explore various geometries and particle systems, all skinned entirely in video texture maps sourced from Vpeeker. The dynamic color palettes and ephemeral energy that emerges from the onslaught of these randomly selected clips creates strings of incongruous alternations; where real conflates with virtual, irony conflates with true belief, and human emotion and spirituality conflate with the limitations of broadband upload speeds. Deceptionista seeks to dramatize these dichotomies by traversing the deep chasms between them.

A Credible Eye Witness teams up with enigmatic Ghost Ride to create a new aesthetic and musical identity to his ACEW project. Loud yet energetic "Stellar Tunes" introduces four dancefloor electro cuts characterized by European noir tones and US funk sororities. From the Detroitish influences of opener "Sound Odyssey" to the ultimate 90’s groove of synth pop “Political Collapse”, passing through the cosmic analog style of emotional "Purple Sky" or the hammering vibes of psychedelic "Obsidian", the 12” brilliantly combines acid abstract sounds, experimental and structural elements that underline the mastery of Emilio Urbano in developing original and intricate electro music. “Stellar Tunes” sees the Italian moving on a bit from his first productions to explorate funkier landscapes. Expect nothing but electro at its finest!
