Something's Brewing (Jazzy Suspense)

Lyrics by John Goodwin who co-wrote a song on the Crazy Heart Soundtrack called "Hold On You" from the film released in 2010.  In a cosmic irony, his Dad was my pediatrician Dr. Marvin Goodwin.  I always heard this one playing during the credits at the end of movie.  i went for a Leslie effect with my "Flanker" pedal which is just an old purple boss flanger pedal with the flange turned off.  Black '83 Fender Strat Elite through a Lab Series L11 & 1 x 12" Marshall speaker in a KK audio cabinet.

Dragonfly

Written for my oldest son Shane when he was around 2 regarding my fears of not being able to provide for him (plus the image of a farmer at a well on Seasame Street).  Music is similar to Julian Lennon's song "Saltwater" co-written, I believe, with Mark Spiro, one of my favorite songwriters of all time.  I was probably a bit too influenced by their song but this one stands on its own well.  Sent it to Nashville in 1992 and it was rejected for being "too folky."  Probably would be a good current country song now.

Well Runs Dry

Vocals by Dante.  12 string acoustic Ovation originally given to me by my good friend and band mate, Matt Shumway, '78 Fender Tele & '83 Fender Elite Strat through the Lab L11 & full Marshall cab with my '73 Fender Jazz Fretless Bass featured prominently in the mix.  Can't remember where I recorded it but have a vague flashback of being in some canyon in Hollywood in a turn of the century house basement with Adats.

Written with Don Henley in mind with Cheap Trick influences.  Not sure where recorded.  Words by Scott Cross (don't know where he is) and Music by Eric Phillips.  All instruments by Eric Phillips. Vocals by Dante. Many electric guitars were used on this one; borrowed 12 string electric Rickenbacher, '78 Fender Tele, '83 Fender Elite Strat through a Lab Series L11 and 1 x 12" 30 watt cream back Celestian speaker.  Bass probably a Music Man (can't remember even what color, prob white). Oh, & Roger Linn on Drum machine!
