Double MOBO Award Winning Saxophonist YolanDa Brown - 

Think saxophones, and most of us will immediately start thinking of jazz, specifically trad jazz. No bad thing, maybe, as there are few instruments as beautiful as the saxophone, and few sounds as effortlessly beautiful as jazz, but YolanDa Brown is someone who has made the instrument truly her own, a miraculously gifted saxophonist fluent in a whole lot more than just that one genre.

Charismatic and charming, YolanDa Brown is the double MOBO Award-winning saxophonist, widely regarded as the emerging “voice” of mainstream jazz in the UK.

YolanDa has toured with The Temptations, Errol Brown, Alexander O’Neal, Courtney Pine, Diana Krall and has played with Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. In her own right, YolanDa is one of the most exciting and in-demand live performers on the contemporary music scene.

“April Showers, May Flowers”, YolanDa’s debut album reached number one in both the Amazon and iTunes jazz charts, although her music is a wonderful mix of genres, touching on jazz, soul and reggae.

Tuneful and inspirational, YolanDa’s music has brought her to perform before Heads of State and in 2011 YolanDa was invited to meet Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip, at Buckingham Palace.

"Do I sleep?" she asks, giggling. "Not much, but then I don't need many hours. I've got too much I want to prove right now, I suppose, and so I'm doing my best to do just that."
