Connecting the dots between Reggaeton and Dancehall and paring them with other genres rooted in soundsystem culture we have Amsterdam's Nèna in this week's instalment of the Rhythmic Culture podcast. Inspired by the unapologetic and sincere emotions that Reggaeton brings to a dancefloor, the genre's sincerity is a common ground for all the music she plays.

Her 60-minute mix is a fun back and forth journey between traditional and contemporary approaches of Reggaeton-influenced sounds that resulted in a killer home listening session.

For episode four of MARKHAM we've connected with Amsterdam based artist Nèna. A dreamy landscape sets the scene for this mix, weaving through both lengthened cords and chugging low end. Nèna is no stranger to bass-heavy beats, leaving listeners enamoured both at live events and on radio broadcasts on the likes of @radioradiofm / @radiotemponaopara / @strandedfm

So we are super pleased to have one of our favourite artists @astro-nena share with us an hour from her busy ADE weekend. Warming up for @overmono in Amsterdam's famous Paradiso - a 19th-century church squatted by hippies back in the 60s. So yeah - Turn on, tune in, and drop out 🥁✌️😊🌻🌈✌️

Now based in Brussels, ojoo’s diverse love for sound is apparent in every mix and live set she conjures up. Swirling reggaeton and dembow, atmospheric illbient and industrial beats, grubby grime and even religious folk music may make an appearance, each track a well-considered placement in her sonic witch’s brew. Though varied in style and genre, her skillful touch ensures the groove remains a constant, turning disparate parts into a dancified freak-out with just the right gonzo flow to make you go »Whoa.«
