It is autumn 2022, Alice and Stefan, also known under the artist names Jan Loup and Maquis Son Sítsom, went from Toulouse on a  tour of Europe. We were lucky and ran into them along the way. We spent some nice time together in Prague and Brno and recorded next part to Transcendanz series. Then the earth collapsed after them, but they promised that they would return one day. We will wait with hope.

Jan Loup’s territories of exploration are split in several directions. Sometimes on her show Mana-Machine (LYL Radio) and with her collective “Aïra”, she visits ambient sounds, soothing pads and organic glitches, depicting fantasy mental landscapes, at the crossroads of dreams and consciousness. Sometimes in her own music production and during more festive times, she seeks to transcend emotion through more intense rhythmic mixtures, filled with saturated drums and its distortions. She conceive her dj-set like rituals, associating track by image and texture affinity, always in this desir of expressing or liberating the emotions as well by listening as through dancing. In her univers the party time is lived as ceremony attempt, a rite to escapde from capitalism and the prison of the ego, to find back the sens of self and the connexion to others, rediscover our wildeness, with or without success.

Maquis Son Sistèm is a musical project and alias of Stefan Dubs that expresses itself through the records of the eponymous label, a show on LYL radio ‘Le Son du Maquis’, and his live dub project which consists of live re-interpretations of his songs using the multipist as instrument but also sound effects and dub sirens.. using both the traditional techniques of the studio dub version and those of the mix session.

We're thrilled to welcome Flore onto the Rhythmic Culture mix series. Flore is a leading figure in the French bass scene, known for her prowess as a DJ, producer, curator, and label boss of POLAAR. Her energy - filled DJ sets and ability to create a sense of community on the dance floor are what sets her apart.

Within 56-minutes she brings it from downtempo steppers to dub-heavy rhythms, from techno to quick breaks and then hops back the other way around. We're in for a treat.

I caught her playing at Nik Nak’s Dub Sirens event in Leeds earlier this year and loved the way she fluidly weaved a high energy fusion of bassy breaksy bits. We then bonded over Ghanaian food and Croydon(!). I’ve listened to several of her mixes since and trust me she’s also got serious deep selection across electro, dubby chuggers etc."

In a new round of Mia Koden's curation for the Rhythmic Culture podcast, 1985, DEEP MEDi MUSIK and SYSTEM MUSIC affiliate Samba steps up in the series.

Mia Koden: "Samba is one of the most consistently fire producers I've followed over the years. He's chiefly known for his dubstep tracks but truth is he's actually a sonic chameleon, carving out dark but vibrant bangers with stand out melodies and sound choice regardless of what genre he touches. His DJ sets definitely reflect this: Saw a recent set over the summer for DEEP MEDi (a label he's dropped some anthems on) and it was packed with great selection and interesting moments."

In the run-up to his next release 'Arteria' on Maloca, Brussels-based artist Hypna joins us on the Rhythmic Culture mix series this week. Last year, he launched the artist collective and label Plasma Sources, which he intends to use to bridge the gap between the club and immersive listening experiences. The mix is a collection of all sorts of futurist beats, intriguing percussions, and of course a peak into his new release.
