Techno for the soul. Godless contemporary.

Born, raised and residing in Chicago, House music has always influenced my life in one form or another. While Deep House is my sub-genre of choice, I'll spin it all, House, Nu-Disco, Broken-Beat, Minimal, Techno, whatever. Influenced by DJs such as Glenn Underground, Kerri Chandler, Franck Roger, Lars Behrenroth, Jeff Mills, to name a few, my sound varies with elements of jazz, percussion, latin rhythms, acid, deep bass, bloops and bleeps, and everything in-between. Vinyl or digital, doesn’t matter, put me behind the decks and a mixer and I feel at home. Whether playing a warm up set or peak time vibes, I’m always prepped to throw down a set that’ll get you grooving and left wanting more when all's said and done.

rhythmrobot is the alias of Chicago-based producer Ryan Gilhooley, a veteran of the underground scene with a deep love for Acid, Techno, and Deep House. Originally producing under the name Hardware in the early 2000s, Ryan took a creative hiatus from 2009 to 2015 to pursue a career in marketing. The return to music in 2015, under the moniker rhythmrobot, was as much a therapeutic journey as a sonic one.

In 2016, rhythmrobot made his label debut with Drum Hop on Ante Recordings, quickly followed by Chapdr3 on Run on Recordings, thanks to a fateful introduction to fellow producer Owen Ni (aka Pan!k). The two have since become frequent collaborators, with releases on labels such as Snail Juice Records, Bang Le Dex, AcidWorx, and Run on Trax.

A major milestone came in 2020 when Posthuman played rhythmrobot’s track Urges at the legendary I Love Acid party. The following year, his collaboration Rung with Owen Ni landed on several Spotify editorial playlists, earning global recognition and reaching listeners in 138 countries.

In 2023, rhythmrobot contributed an Acid mix to the iconic 5 Magazine's Rise series, solidifying his place in the evolving landscape of modern Acid and Techno. His work has been remixed by artists like dyLAB, JAK, Yokushe, Master Master, Mark Ryal, Distortion Inc., and Pat Foosheen.

Been listening to EDM since 95, and it started with Chicago House & Techno.

Where indietronica meets the edges of experimental electronic and downtempo. This isn’t just sound—it’s a living, breathing experiment. Electric guitars twist into loops, synths pulse like thoughts, and samplers crack open new worlds.

Armed with a Line 6 DL4 sampler and a passion for experimentation, Simplistic Scientists transform the guitar into a portal to otherworldly dimensions. Through intricate sampling and live manipulation, they conjure ambient textures, ethereal tones, and intricate loops, elevating the collective's sound into uncharted territories.

Long story short...I broke my arm and got into mixing. Now it is my passion and I am trying to make something of myself. I hope I can move you the way music moves me.
