Due for September 15, our inaugural ‘Premier Rayon’ compilation is a legacy from ‘Paturia’ – a party we organized by the French collective last summer – as you can find Organizatsiya, Ended., HAJJ, _mass or Jonnnah on the line-up, all part of this hot weekend of August 2020.

To accompany them: GOLCE, Caïn و Muchi, K I A (A Strange Wedding & Jan Loup), Women In The Royal Court (OKO DJ & Tryphème) ft. Clara!, Salma Rosa or Lucy Liyou, paving the way to another reunion in France’s verdant meadows.

Definitely oriented towards contemporary electronics, the 11-track various offers a fine selection of experimental breaks infused with futuristic trap, dark downtempo and rousing trance, all tightly linked up by an overall digital emo-pop vibe. Between its frenetic, tormented atmosphere, the release also offers a few moments of contemplation, unveiling a softer fragment of our recurrent-to-be gathering,

Limited to 250 copies, the crystal-clear 2x12” vinyl and its 10-hand designed gatefold is another nod to these moments when artists and audience join as one, providing the natural surroundings with an unforgettable memory of symbiosis and creativity.

Featuring two production debuts, WZY2.5 acts as an exciting snapshot of the talented global community surrounding the label and its founder. Woozy explains itself as a label dedicated to dub-heavy sounds, which is also to be heard on this third label release. Here we manoeuvre ourselves through throbbing wubs, dramatic breaks, d&b rollers and halftime gems, each track playful and fun on its own.

To celebrate their fifth anniversary, label founders Mor Elian and Rhyw have put together a compilation that captures their strikingly fresh vision. "It's Not a Bug, It's a Feature" presents core Fever AM artists like Xen Chron and Ayesha alongside a few newcomers to the label, such as Pariah, MSJY, Peder Mannerfelt. Nerve Collect co-founder Gamma Intel follows up label partner Identified Patient's inaugural release with his thrilling E.M. EP. Across six club-ready cuts, the Dutchman explores the spaces where bass, techno, electro and acid all intersect. E.M. is available in digital and physical 12'' format.

On the A side 'Little Mirror Man' opens up with an elastic but thumping broken beat. A flurry of jungle drums rain down next to scratched metal stabs, bleep-techno melodies and all underpinned with heavy bass rumbles. 'Save Pair of Hands' doesn't let up, with knick-snapping hits and earth-shattering bass weight. As heavy as the groove might be, there is still plenty of room for deft synth designs to bring plenty of emotion. On '5AM-SBM' you are tugged in many directions at once - nimble drums dart about beneath prickly percussion and flaming hits that have a mind of their own. Although the low end is distorted, the details up top are well-defined and given plenty of space to make their mark.

The flipside takes off on turbocharged techno-electro fusion 'Sleep and Cry.' It's a devastating and visceral drum track that also packs an emotional punch as celestial chords suspend you at the doors of heaven. 'Panthera Leo' soundtracks the end of the world as acid lashes about amidst controlled but unrelenting drum chaos and finally, the drilling bass and frantic drum programming of 'Trust' is another all-powerful club track. Its dark energy sucks you in for a white-knuckle ride to remember.

This EP finds Gamma Intel pulling off plenty of unusual tricks and twists on his way to conquering the dance floor.

yet is a slippery word in English. Amorphous, these three letters in different contexts can define contrast or emphasis, set a place in time, show an expectation that something will occur or, paradoxically, that it is likely to stop. 

It is this mercurial nature that makes yet the perfect title for Tresor's latest compilation: the label follows on from the more explorative sections of 2021's landmark Tresor 30 boxed set with a compilation, featuring 13 artists making music that resists easy definition. 

Every track hints at and borrows from the familiar yet none follow the expected path: halfway through Deserto, Nandele &amp; A-Tweed dramatically reveal a very different sonic landscape that was initially suggested; DJ Sotofett collaborates with Tamil artist Kavadi with results that are unlike anything in the Norwegian producer’s catalogue as yet.

Further invention can be found as Jean Redondo's Hypersonic moves across spaces inhabited by digital hardcore and hyperpop before swerving off-road and into a futuristic hip-hop section; on No Longer Human, Ireen Amnes takes a different path at the crossroads melding hyperpop, trance, and sci-fi soundtrack atmospherics, Significant Other heads towards UK Bass and Dubstep, and France's Willis Anne skims by the outskirts of footwork with a piece that is almost completely uncategorisable.

Yet more sonic experimentation comes from E-Saggila, Nadia Struiwigh, NVST, Solid Blake, and Viikatory who offer unique takes on the well-established electro blueprint, while Ryan James Ford, and Nit. both find ways to blend elements normally found in ambient pieces with those heard on a dancefloor.

The feel of the compilation is yet again reflected in the enigmatic artwork by Malik Arbab, where shapes and colours suggest animals and plants but in a world that appears to be transient and constantly evolving.

This was an album that was made when I moved to Seattle in 2020. I was intrigued by the idea of a future where robots have replaced humans and are mimicking their ancestors by going to electronic 'cafes'. What would they be listening to?

It's now 2024, almost a quarter of a century later. The idea is one that I think is closer then we think.

RECOGNIZER is an acronym for what happened to humanity, and is buried somewhere within the album. See if you can where it's hidden..

A1 Season of Teeth from "Slithering" (AVN041)

Rhyw returns to Avian.

Slowly becoming a label mainstay, Alex Tsiridis emerges once more on Avian under his Rhyw alias. The producer follows up 2018’s "Cave Walls (Part Two)" with "Slithering", another five track missive channelling the latest in Tsiridis’ more gestural, groove focused work.

The production is as rich and tightly bound as one might expect - each track full in the mid range and packed with the arcane, percussive components that now characterise the producer’s output.

Stepping opener "Season of Teeth" sets the tone for the EP, a meditative piece that only reveals itself fully in the last quarter of its run-time but makes the most of neat, driven polyrhythms throughout; whilst ingenious follow up "Salt Split Tongue" showcases Tsiridis’ knack for twisting vocal samples into curious hooks. On the B-side "Skend" sees the record move into 4/4 territory, but the sound design remains no less left-field with a lead that feels buoyed by another guttural vocal manipulation. "Spoiler" offers up the most straightforward club recording on "Slithering", a focused and exquisitely produced reduction, before giving way to closer "Succession" - the EP’s only beatless recording, an industrial transmission with nods to music concrète.
