Release Info: 
Time for a family collaboration as Adana Twins link up with TAU mainstay Darlyn Vlys for a three-track excursion into a Distant Dream. Label heads Benjamin and Friso combine their creative talent with Darlyn's similarly fertile mind, creating three tracks that embody the label's diverse output. There are elements of techno, disco, electro and house present throughout this release, with an overall sonic aesthetic that is utterly captivating and fully representative of the TAU sound.

'Distant Dream' sets the tone with Krakow Loves Adana on vocals. Disco-esque beats and bass provide the backbone to this mesmerising cut, with Krakow's voice peppering the intro. Once the track gets going, we're treated to emotive songwriting alongside equally stirring arrange- ment. In particular, the main motif is sure to provoke an emotional charge on the dance floor. Beautifully composed.

Up next is 'Phase One', which kicks off with a minimal intro, building into pulsating rhythm and punchy beats. This driving cut engulfs you in its layers of alluring synth, as Adana Twins and Darlyn utilise the power of tension, along with a trusty modulated acid line. As the track progresses, it's all encompassing energy will whisk you away into another dimension. Hold on to your hats for the huge breakdown...

Lastly, 'Starwave' features an oscillating b-line that will lock you into its grip straight away. Here, the progression is steady, with soothing pads washing over the low end and a heartrending melody providing the centrepiece of this moving composition. The Twins and Darlyn switch things up midway through, introducing an ominous synth line, before the breakdown guides us into the wondrous second half. A spellbinding end to this superb EP...

Episode 20 is a mix that digs into the crate (so to speak), utilising songs spanning across the past 9 years; taking partial mixes of old and re-imagining them for one continuous journey. To stitch a peregrination together, that meanders from melody to melody, bass line to bass line… interwoven with pads, strings, vocals, and intermissions of rumination; that continuously builds upon the melodic, progressive elements... leading to a luminous conclusion.

Episode 20: Luminescence

We all try to live our lives without repent but more often than not repent is all that's left to feel. You make mistakes and and try and learn from them. You question your decisions more each day. 
In this track I imagined a man who needs to make a difficult choice. He can either help a group of people and might end up in deep trouble or he can make a run for it. Whatever he does the memory of his decision will remain with him for the rest of his life.

🚨 To commemorate 20 years of Balance 006, Anthony Pappa compiled a special 2 hour mix, a 2024 rendition if you like of his revered Balance entry: one hour of lush prog breaks and one hour of hypnotic 4/4. 🚨

Few DJs capture the imagination of prog punters like Australia’s Anthony Pappa. Known for his technical proficiency and ability to mix tracks with surgical precision, he is a generational talent who rightfully became a pivotal scene figure.

With a sound rooted in darker, rebellious tones, he fully embodied the underground at a time when the term still held weight.

Achieving what Pappa did requires a life filled with experiences. Given the way social media, marketing, and promotion have transformed the scene, his story is unlikely to be replicated.   

A pivotal part of our story, we dived deep with Anthony Pappa to discuss his career and his peerless Balance 006.

I was really looking forward to this time of year, and here we are again. Everywhere is beautifully decorated and it smells of delicious Christmas cookies. And of course one thing should not be missing. My Christmas mix. For me it is a very special occasion because it is my tenth Christmas mix. I am very happy about that. Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this week's edition we welcome @nikisadeki

Niki is a Vancouver-based DJ and musician. From raiding her parents’ record collection when she was just a child, to becoming resident at Vancouver’s MIA, Niki has continuously been living with the music in the forefront. Within a very short time, she has put herself on the map as an up and coming DJ. 

Niki conveys her expression of life to listeners and engages crowds through her live sets when she’s behind the decks , and through dozens of podcasts and studio mixes. Her sets have been described as musical journeys, charming listeners and at the same time inviting them to dive into their own individual world of sensations. 

Niki is the host of Allure on Frisky Radio which airs every 3rd Wednesday of the month.
