Drawing on a heady brew of influences from Brian Eno, John Cage, Massive Attack and Aphex Twin to Manchester’s grey rain-streaked urban streets, they create a brave new sound that is wholly their own.

Defined by skittering break-beats, powerful sub-bass, telepathic interplay and a penchant for anthemic melody they create an emotionally rich palate for the listener that has seen them hailed as the most exciting new band to emerge from the UK in years.

People's Potential Unlimited (PPU) is a very special record label in DC known for discovering and reissuing some of the weirdest and best ultra-rare boogie, funk, and other dance music from the 70s, 80s, 90s as well as a new generation of beat-makers who draw inspiration from these strange worlds of sound.

Started by music fiend Andrew Morgan and operated out of his basement, PPU’s is a world that re-imagines funk as outsider art and cosmic-boogie as a modern variant of folk music. What would it be like if your school janitor made rap music in the broom closet or if someone in middle management still nursed a dream of being the next El Debarge? The label’s roster includes Robbie M., Dwight Sykes, Evans Pyramid, George Franklin Smallwood, Uku Kuut—names found on demo tapes abandoned to time, or else unearthed online. But PPU also pushes the present into the future. Newest members of the PPU family include DC favorite sons Beautiful Swimmers,  Dreamcastmoe, King Pari, PPU VHS Video mulcher Luke Wyatt, LA beathead Benedek, Vancouver space cadets Pender Street Steppers and Miami sound machine Mickey de Grand IV. There's a palpable scent of both mustiness and freshness to be found in all of PPU's grooves though, the smell of funk from a parallel dimension.

The Chocolate EP is the latest funk-fuelled sweetener from the awesome Cantaloop.  This EP sees them ever pushing the boundaries in their genre and treating us to their unique 'C-funk' song craft.

Cantaloop's mission is to provide 800% of C-funk with a satisfaction guarantee! This can be delivered to an intimate crowd or to the masses. Cantaloop are fronted by the C-funk messenger Dannie Dee with his trussed C-funk doctors 100C on guitar and Paulo De'Wooton on bass. No band is absolute without the engine and Cantaloop have two F1 Groove machines to choose from The Beef or King Popeye on drums.

Blessed - The trumpet solo is pure summer day, cruising along an ocean freeway smoking cigarettes (when ciggies were good).

Flatline - The curve ball track, the brotherhood have the know-how to push things forward, they can also take ya back!!

Chocolate Terrorbyte Wonky Remix - spinning back to 8bit heaven while Mr Oizo "flat beat" drives the track through the electro funk door.

Blessed IamTokyo Melon Remix - this mix is for space cadets ready to get lost in musical space, it levitates you without smoking the reefer.

Flatline Defunkt Dialekt Remix - the voltage is turned up, the track explodes and breaks for the dance floor the beat sounds like its being dipped in treacle.

Kev Beadle has been one of the soul and jazz scene’s main tastemakers since the mid/late 80’s. He has played all over the world entertaining crowds with his selections and is never afraid to push musical boundaries. With a compilation discography in double figures, he has put together some well received compilation albums for labels like Blue Note, Cadet as well as more upfront musical offerings for labels like BBE and his own now sadly defunct label Clean Up.
