Ever wondered what it takes to break through onto the dance music scene as a DJ, producer or promotor and forge a decent living in an ever-evolving industry?
In this podcast, I'll be talking to some of these people in the hope of gaining a better insight into the kind of challenges they face, the highs, the lows...as well as hopefully gleaning some nuggets of advice along the way for anyone aspiring to make it themselves.

To kick off this podcast series, I talk to Brighton-based (UK) artist Faide, who has had a number of successful releases and remixes on labels such as Stil Vor Talent, Frau Blau and Plano B Records as well as curating his Brighton night AVOY (All Versions of You) which have seen distinguished DJs and producers such as Joone and Kadosh headline.

Amongst other things, we chat about his approach to music production, his influences, the growing melodic house and techno scene in the UK, social media and his cat Malcom.

Electric Communion Podcast presents Maicol MP - Episode 5

In this podcast, I chat to Italian producer Maicol MP. With a string of productions, collaborations and remixes under his belt on labels such as Surrrealism, Terranova, Kindisch, Future Frequencies and Ephemeral, Maicol is a name that is very much on the rise in the current melodic house and techno scene. 

His biggest release to date – Lilac Flame – came out earlier this year in the form of  a collaboration with Iranian producer Hamoon which was released on the Surrrealism label’s ‘Speechless II’ VA. With its dark, moody percussive arrangements and melodies, the track was a hit in the clubs with scene heavyweights Trikk, Aera and fellow Italian Ivory playing it out.

Maicol’s next ep, produced alongside long-time collaborator Steedo, is due out soon on Metrica and in this podcast, you get to hear an exclusive preview of their track ‘Ant’s March’, which to date has only been played out by Trikk b2b with Jimi Jules at the Innervisions Offsonar event in Barcalona 2022.

In this episode, I’m in conversation with the upcoming Norwegian producer Meera, who broke onto the scene earlier this year with much-talked about releases on the VOD and Crosstown Rebels Rebellion off-shoot labels.

The Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus, someone who needs no introduction within the scene, spoke in the highest terms about the young female producer saying: ‘There’s nothing about this new artist I don’t believe in…’

As well as the usual insightful chat about life as a Producer/DJ, we cover a range of topics that include details of an exciting upcoming release with fellow Scandinavian trio Tripolism, Meera’s love of video games and growing up with her celebrity DJ dad.

Hamoon (Full Name: Hamoon Nassaji, Born in July 1996) is the name of an electronic music producer based in iran that started his musical journey since 2015. His workstyle is not limited to a specefic genre and always try to bring you new ideas in different experimental forms.

He was also part of persian duo "Hamoon & Amiralee" with his friend Amirali Masoumi and had a number of successful releases during past years that the result was the support of big djs of the scene like John Digweed, Frankey & Sandrino, Trikk, Ivory, Fideles, Ivan Masa, EdOne and many more

Chroma Podcast #012 by Hamoon

Having initially met in a club toilet in 2015 (listen to the conversation for the full story on this!), Luke Folks and Owen Griffiths immediately bonded over similar tastes in music and soon formed the duo Monica. 

From their early beginnings on Brighton's @codesouthradio , they quickly forged a reputation DJing on the Brighton club circuit, as well as putting on their own night Foucault, which has seen them book the likes of respected artists such as @aerrra , @skatman-official , @manpower-1 and @dc-salas . 

Over the past couple of years, their hard work and commitment to developing their own sound has finally come to fruition, with releases on @reculturelondon , @appliedmagicrecords and more recently, Eastern standard .

Listen to them chat candidly with @richard_q about their approach to producing music as a duo as well as the challenges and moments of self-doubt they’ve faced along the way. This is definitely one for any producers or promoters out there trying to make it in the dance music biz at the moment.

Channan Hanif is a London born and based producer of Pakistani heritage who's been quietly building a name for himself over the last year or so with the likes of respected DJ/producers Laurent Garnier, Hardt Antoine, Sahar,  REj, Samantha Loveridge, Faide and Auggie playing out his tracks. 

His debut ep was recently released on Spanish label Anims and his track 'Gimme Some!' has been tearing up dancefloors worldwide. His next release is a 3 track EP coming out on Works of Intent’s Emotional Weaponry label next month.

In this episode, hear Channan voice his opinion on the current London club scene, talk about what life was like growing up as a teenager in the Pakistan city of Karachi and how a former guest on this podcast has been an inspiration and mentor to him.
