"Kente" was born November 16th in Albuquerque, NM. He moved to Houston, TX in 1986 and shortly moved to West Memphis, AR (10 minutes from downtown Memphis, TN) in 1989. He started writing music at the age of 9. He was the youngest of three kids. In 2000 he sang with his high school choir at the White House, for the Delta Conference and later that year had the chance to sing in New York City at Carnegie Hall. After high school Kente set his goals on college, and moved to Minnesota in late 2001. He attended Brown College in Mendota Heights, MN for Radio Broadcasting. Since 2010 he has owned Independent record label Rasma Recordings LLC where he showcases artists and direct and edits videos. Performed at festivals and opened up for several major acts. Kente has released over seven mix tapes and albums combined under the label. Several solo mix tapes through the label including two collaboration albums, one ("From Da Country 2 The City" 2011) , and an album ("Run It With Me 2013"). Kente debuted his solo Album ("It's Music To Me" 2014) mixtape ("Since I Didn't Get a Verse" 2015) Kente Latest Album (“Black In America") was released in 2017. Kente was sent to prison in 2018 for 3rd degree possession of marijuana. Since his release, in 2020 he’s released several singles.
