In this exclusive commentary, Jackson talks about how the song developed from an unfinished demo to the track you hear today, and how Sarah’s vocal melody brought it all together. “It felt like a special one to finish,” he says, because Sarah’s voice “sat perfectly” on his production; a blend of lush sonic influences spanning electronic, pop and alternative. Cheat Codes are following up their 2023 foray into country music, ‘One Night in Nashville,’ with a return to their dance-pop roots. In this exclusive commentary, the LA-based trio discusses the making of tracks from their new album, ‘Future Renaissance,’ which features unexpected collaborators, such as CeeLo Green (“Go to Hell”) and Kenny G (“More Than Anybody”). After layering a synthesized saxophone on the latter track, they reached out to the jazz crossover artist and he responded instantly with multiple takes. “The real, organically recorded instrument always makes a difference,” says Cheat Codes’ Matthew Russell.
