Now, Ray has released his long-awaited debut album, ‘FOREVER, VOLPETRON,’ where he showcases his heavy dubstep and gritty, melodic bass sound, paired with his signature cinematic flair and energetic, catchy hooks. LA-based crate digger, DJ, producer and radio host Daniel T’s new track, “One Look,” features his friend Andy Cabic, from the San Francisco band Vetiver, on vocals. “We banged it out — with no AI, I might add,” he says, who was one-half of the Cosmic Kids before going solo. In this exclusive commentary, Daniel T discusses the making of “One Look” and other tracks, including “Moon Walkin’” (featuring Joshua Hodges of STRFKR) and “The Pop,” which he describes as a “sort of disco, sort of hip-hop” song that fills “the zone where ‘80s Grace Jones and the first Gorillaz album might meet.” Listen now.
