Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by A Plus D, Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities on four continents. This is Bootie’s annual compilation of our best mashups of the past year, all mega-mixed together so it fits on an old-school CD. It’s basically a 79-minute summary of an entire night at Bootie, from the build-up on the dance floor to the hands-up floor bangers to the drunken off-the-rails sing-alongs to the chilled-out come-down, to the slow jam at the end. I immediately fell in love with singer Stealth’s tremendous vocals. I liked the originals deep and techy direction, but wanted to bring my own flavor to the track. The vocals bring a polished, commercial feeling, which I worked to support with uplifting piano accompaniment and an uplifting breakdown. With the drop, I tried to find a cool middle ground between clubby deep house and easy listening music. The track was a pleasure to make, and I really hope you guys enjoy it too!
