I wrote this song in memory of Todd Scott Schojan and the reggae shows we played with the band he formed call Resistance. George Wesley was the leader of that band and we played his songs along with those of the original reggae masters. Both musicians died from cancer. Both dedicated themselves to music, creativity and community. They made a difference in many people's lives. I am forever grateful to the members of Got Herb? for recording this song, and for the continuing inspiration and guidance of Dave Bernis. As George always said "Thank you - bless up!'

“Cool It” was written in that dance and joyful spirit of Bunny Wailers “Rootsman Skanking” album. It was the first reggae album I heard growing up. Full of dancehall rhythms and upful melodies. It’s still one of my favorite albums and continues to inspire my songwriting, along with other greats such as the “Cool Ruler” Gregory Isaacs and the Meditations.
