Artem first arrived on Anjuna’s radar in 2010. What followed was a stellar run under his ARTY alias: ‘Rush’, ‘Zara’, ‘Around The World’, ‘Rebound’ and ‘Kate’ are Anjunabeats classics, and helped define the sound of the label in the early 2010s. Artem’s ALPHA 9 alias is where he has found his stride in recent years. Focusing on the progressive trance that he fell in love with as a teenager, some of Artem’s standout moments as ALPHA 9 include ‘Before The Dawn’, ‘Stellar’, ‘Skin’, and his faithful update of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s evergreen classic ‘Good For Me’.

ALPHA 9's energetic sets have been heard at Steel Yard, Dreamstate, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa, Amnesia Ibiza, and Creamfields, winning him millions of fans worldwide. Most recently, he thrilled 22,000 fans at Above & Beyond’s sold out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles, where a special surprise was awaiting at the end of his performance - the announcement of his debut album as ALPHA 9, ‘New Horizons’.

Featuring fourteen tracks from across the ALPHA 9 universe, ‘New Horizons’ takes the ALPHA 9 project to soaring new heights. “This is a new chapter,” Artem says. “I’m very confident in the direction I’m taking this project. This new album is a journey through the beginning of ALPHA 9’s artistry to now.”

‘New Horizons’ has lived many lives: Artem feels this is the most honest, raw and energising music he’s created yet. “It’s called ‘New Horizons’ because it’s the journey from the first steps of ALPHA 9 to maturity,” Artem says. “This is ALPHA 9’s signature, instantly recognisable sound, but it’s also future-facing and explores new horizons.”

Joining ALPHA 9 on ‘Down to Love’ is Jonathan Mendelsohn. A voice that will be recognised by fans of nearly every genre of mainstage dance, he sings on records including Seven Lions and Jason Ross’ ‘Oceans’ and ‘Foolish Of Me’, Brennan Heart’s hardstyle hit ‘Imaginary’, plus Hardwell and KAAZE’s collaboration ‘We Are Legends’.

Hey everyone, Arty here and I wanna share some thoughts with you that I've been living with for a while now.
First, thanks to all of you for being with me in this amazing musical journey, I just realized it's already been 9 years since I'm doing what I love the most and your support is the one of the few things that keeps me motivated and inspired, 
I appreciate it so much and I always will!
But I also appreciate the desire to explore myself in different musical styles, trying something new and pushing this idea forward all the time. Since the beginning of my career I've always been saying that I don't wanna stuck in one certain genre, and the reason is not because I don't like it anymore. The real reason that is for me as an artist, listening, getting inspired and making as much diverse music as possible is one of the things that helps my creativity and keeps me from being stagnated as a musician...which is the worst.
That's why at some point the music I was making has started to go further and further away from its original roots. 
Some of you accepted it, some if you didn't. Yet all of the records I made always came from my soul, whether it's trance, dance or pop. Over these years I've been always listening to your feedback. You might think that for an artist it's extremely easy to start ignoring his fans, their demands and just do what his heart or mind says. 
Well, it's not. And that's where idea of discovering new sound clashes with listener's voice and all of this happens in my head. "IN MY HEAD", so don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it. Your feedback and support was always with me throughout this journey, but when some of my records didn't match your expectation, unconsciously I started to build this pressure on my shoulders and I started to compromise my music in an effort to make both me and my fans satisfied.
2016 was amazing year for me. It was a year of re-discovering myself as an artist and as a person as well, considering it took me a minute to get out of my album's routine and its aftermath, which was close to a nightmare. But the freedom afterwards felt like nothing else. I didn't feel myself so inspired and productive in a long time, and it was probably the first time I opened my eyes so wide. Closer to the end of last year I noticed how much my music was different from what I've done in the past, and I felt like I had been neglecting my long-time fans and it didn't feel fair. And that's how I came up with idea of bringing the Alpha 9 alias back. It gives me the freedom to not be bounded to a specific genre, allowing me to experiment and keep pushing my boundaries with Arty, while I can be as close as possible to my long-time fans using Alpha 9 moniker.
I remember myself as a 17 year old kid, running back home from university classes every day, absolutely blinded by just the idea of making music. No pressure from managers, labels or promoters, just pure passion. For the first time in a long time I feel like that kid again and I don't feel this pressure anymore.
Also I wanna make it really clear, although Alpha 9 is still me, it's a totally separate project from Arty, focused on totally different music. I'm taking Arty music further towards the dance scene, while Alpha 9 will be a progressive/trance oriented project, this applies to branding, releases and live sets.

Returning to the progressive trance sound that he initially built his name on, Artem Stoliarov aka Arty reprises the well-loved Alpha 9 alias for his latest Anjunabeats outing alongside London duo Koven.

Following a series of Arty instrumentals on the label throughout 2016 including ‘Patriots’ and ‘Follow The Light’ (alongside Andrew Bayer), ‘Only Good Mistake’ feat. Koven surprisingly marks the Russian producer’s first ever vocal single on Anjunabeats.

A vocalist and producer duo in the bass world, Max Rowat and Katie Boyle aka Koven have released on a number of renowned labels including Viper Recordings and Monstercat. 

Recent years have seen Arty himself explore all sides of the electronic music world, most noticeably in 2015’s diverse and experimental ‘Glorious’ LP. Elsewhere his mix for Moby’s iconic ‘Porcelain’ showed a deeper, broken beat side to his sound. 

In ‘Only Good Mistake’, however, the Russian producer defines a clear, singular melodic progressive house sound that has all the hallmarks of a festival hit and bodes well for the rebirth of the Alpha 9 alias.

September sees Myon renew a studio relationship first formed in 2014 with his debut co-production with the US Late Night Alumni collective. 
Tonally and thematically ‘Hearts &amp; Silence’ picks up where ‘Under Your Cloud’ left off. It again underscores the brilliant, near-alchemic triangulation between Myon’s clubbier, more driving studio
instincts, L.N.A.’s cooler housier, elements and the quiet persuasion of singer Becky Jean Williams’ empathetic,
affecting vocals.
On the club mix Myon‘s techier contours and more electro-lining FX light the track’s touch-paper. Against its
riding percussion lines and elegiacally bleeping intro melody, collectively they instil a lament-filled emotive to its
early minutes.
As sensitively written as they are deeply moving, Becky’s ‘Hearts &amp; Silence’ lyrics and vocal put the brilliance of
her from-the-heart songwriting into sharpest possible focus. As the track moves towards the drop, those more
wistful vocal accents fade, replaced - in feel and tone - with first hope, and then belief.
Though their music Myon and L.N.A. skilfully shadow this transition. With evermore uplifting elements –
orchestral strings, seaside atmospherics and beautifully crafted/strikingly elevating synths all supporting the shift,
it swells to its heartening, enriching post-break conclusion. Classy, organic music making at its absolute finest.
