Remaining at the forefront of a genre is no small feat, yet Victor Ruiz and his VOLTA imprint remain synonymous with cutting-edge underground techno on a global scale. The latest release on VOLTA welcomes back budding Australian talent Lisa May, as she delivers another hugely impressive offering for the archives with her ‘Switch’ EP. First stepping out on VOLTA in 2022, Lisa May is back with another refreshing release, spanning three unique dancefloor cuts.
The title cut ‘Switch’ kicks things off with hammering kicks, crisp percussive drive and a pulsating musical arrangement. Subtly bringing in that ethereal sound the label is known for, it’s a track with an immersive journey filled with retro soundscapes and a cinematic feel - loaded with danceable segments from start to finish.

‘Pong Ping’ comes next, delivering more gritty grooves and roughened rhythms. Built around a rippling low-end of tonal percs, bass and synth notes, and sequential FX stabs, its perpetual rumble will keep you on your toes with ease.
‘Radio Signal’ brings the release to a close. Rolling beats and blistering percussive drive create a robust core, orbited by creatively constructed layers of synths, samples and climactic FX, spurring several enjoyable crescendos to create a toughened ebb and flow.

What’s up!? I took part in the Martin Ikin “Control It” Remix Competition and, unfortunately, I didn’t win. But hey, no worries, making this remix was such a rush! I really loved the vibe of the original, and since I’ve been diving deep into Minimal Bass / Minimal Tech House lately, I thought, “why not?” and went for this idea.

The reception on Instagram & Tik Tok has been amazing, and since a lot of you have been asking to hear the full track—here it is!

Thomas and I have been very much in sync with what music we like, play and get inspired by the past couple of years, so I was one big smile when I received these new bangers from Mr. Schumacher.

Continuing on from last years trilogy, in 2018 we embark on new adventures starting with this 90s rave inspired “Embody Paradox” release. Both tracks are geniusly crafted and a tribute to warehouse moments from the early 90s with a twist of Thomas’ skillful 2018 freshness.

"Embody” is built around a timeless 303 sequence wrapped in Thomas’ unique synths, soundscapes and relentless beats.
On “Paradox” Thomas goes back to oldschool arpeggio influences, his signature string composition and thumping subs.

Celebrating its 20th release, this edition of LF RMX features appearances from two of the scene‘s cutting edge producers: Richie Hawtin under his guise of Plastikman alongside Carl Craig‘s Tres Demented-alias. 

While Hawtin‘s original might seem a minimalistic bleeping experiment to some, Len Faki‘s edit has plenty of groove to it. Equipped with substantial low-end frequency and a solid kick, the track slowly develops an ambiance that's spooky, tribal and mesmerizing.

The flip carries an equally strong rework, its grand acid riff and standout-vocals holding center stage, with newly added percussion driving the momentum that turn this one into a peak-time hitter in true crazed-out Tres Demented-style.

PREMIERE: Sisko Electrofanatik, Dino Maggiorana - Desolate

Anthony Castaldo returns to Unrilis with a new four track EP of stomping techno tracks in the same style he has released on Drumcode, AnalyticTrail, Odd Recordings and Intec.

Currently living in London but originally from Italy, Anthony Castaldo has been a part of the Napoli based techno movement that has become prevalent in recent times.

A regular DJ performer at leading London venues such as EGG, he also plays regular sets in other parts of Europe and his own tracks have picked up support from influential spinners such as Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Enrico Sangiuliano and Luigi Madonna.

'Take My Body' opens the EP with acid pulses and stripped back atmosphere, before lifting the intensity with the thundering kick drum and ferocious lead synth of 'Behind Your Eyes'. Featuring Jessica Zese, 'Ephemeral' has a haunting vocal sung over eerie atmosphere and thumping percussion perfect for the dance floor. Closing the EP is 'Changes Intro' which ramps up the tension with an arpeggiated lead synth perfect for opening a DJ set.

Premiere: Anthony Castaldo ft. Jessica Zese - Ephemeral (Original Mix)

Loose Records was originally set up by Rino Cerrone as a sister label to Unrilis with a focus on breeding fresh talent about to burst onto the international techno scene.

The labels roster includes early releases from the likes of Luigi Madonna, Roberto Capuano and Joseph Capriati long before the artists had become established.

This new release on Loose Records is a ten-track release showcasing a selection of new talents who are all making their first appearance on the label.

Artists such as Jason Cluff are making their first ever release, but some of the contributors have also featured on high-flying labels such as Suara, 1605, Phobiq, Octopus, Noir Music, Unity and Bush Records.

Each of the tracks on this release have a dark atmosphere and pounding percussion with some using acid synth lines and others having hypnotic rhythms or atmospheric pads, but each is a high quality production tailor made for the dance floor.
