Good friend and KEY bossman Freddy K steps up to the plate with the 454th transmission of our Rinse show. Having debuted in the realm of techno music around the same time we did, Freddy naturally bears a similar genotype to that of RYC’s. Traveling back and forth the many roots and shoots of electronic music, his set is an ode to the reigning diversity that binds us as a scene. From trippy grooves set to beam you up to unknown dimensions to full-fledged hard-hitting tools, via unexpected detours across further atmospheric sonics, Freddy has us hanging to each bar’s end like a crime novel head eagerly anticipating his favourite author’s next plot twist.

Next up on the FMB Mixtape series is a mix from Berlin duo DJ Heartstring. As usual, we fired some questions over to find out a bit about the mix & what they’ve been up to recently…

In the past months touring has probably been the biggest part of our daily life. Even though it can be exhausting from time to time, playing all around Europe has been amazing. Apart from playing we have been using every chance we get to go to the studio to make music and process everything that has happened this year.

We recorded the mix at home. It is definitely a different feeling from playing at a club or a festival. But we still had a good time selecting tracks and making sure that we are happy with the result.

With this mix we wanted to showcase a different approach to our sound. We definitely play more Hardgroove and Tribal inspired music in this one, sprinkled with a healthy dose of unreleased material by us and our friends. The mix demonstrates pretty well what we sound like right now when we are playing – more ravey and more impulsive.

Raw yet technical, organic with a hint of hypermodern hoodoo to it, Yanamaste’s sound is the definition of hardware techno with soul, cut to ram-raid and elevate in equal measure.

A Sunday afternoon delight from two of techno's most beloved heavy-hitters arrives exclusively on our Soundcloud.

Berlin techno viking and founder of Dystopian Records Rødhåd and the young, accomplished and Mote-Evolver regular Rene Wise have released their 4 hour set recording from March 2023, a huge B2B session that saw the pair delve in and out of eachother’s company for our last Continuum party. They played an extended set during the final Continuum 24+hour party of the season this Spring. 

The session, which started at 4pm as the tail end of the afternoon drew in and went on til 8pm ahead of a closing set from Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann, proved to be one of our highlights from the event. It's a real treat to be able to share the full recording; smashers from the get-go that takes us through the hard and heavy, to the atmospheric and energetic.

Lock in below and transport to the incomparable energy of Room 1 on a Sunday afternoon. Sometimes, we reckon, there's no place like it.

Under the aka Xorpel, this Madrid born 1994 and based in Berlin is always looking for innovation and contrasts in his sets. Influenced from a young age by labels such as Blueprint, Theory, Prímate or Warm Up among many others, Xorpel has always tried to dig deep into the industry to find the sound that most resembles his character.

His sets range from hypnotic, repetitive, hard-hitting techno to groovy, hardgroove, electro, EBM and many other styles. He is currently a resident of Ethos Alternative Club and Pomafest in Madrid, where he is also a promoter together with his partners Symbiosis, Werc, Dani Duran and Root Noise.
