Cada vez que comemos de este pan y bebemos de la copa, anunciamos la muerte del Señor hasta que vuelva.

En el día solemne en que celebramos el Corpus Christi, los PP. Álvaro Sáenz Zúñiga y Miguel Picado Gatjens le expresamos nuestro más efusivo saludo, así como nuestro deseo de que el amor de Dios se manifieste en usted y se decida entonces a comprometerse en la construcción del reino de los cielos en la tierra. 

Con esta celebración la Iglesia, reunida alrededor de la mesa para buscar su cimiento y su corona, se constituye en ámbito e gozo para sustentar la presencia sacramental de Jesucristo y cada cual de nosotros se determina a manifestar dejarse transformar por el Señor. 

Por si tuviera oportunidad, algunos puntos que le ayuden a enfocar su reflexión personal y familiar a partir de esa presencia permanente y misteriosa de Cristo en la vida cotidiana de los creyentes:

La presencia real de Cristo en el pan consagrado tiene varios puntos de sustento en el Antiguo Testamento. Uno de ellos es Melquisedec, el sacerdote y rey, que es además profeta, que presenta ante Dios un sacrificio de pan y de vino y a quien Abraham reconoce como superior a él.

Ese rey profeta, Melquisedec es el referente en el sacerdocio de Jesucristo, que se ofrece por nosotros utilizando esta senda sacerdotal que nada tiene que ver con Levi ni con Aaron. 

Ese ejercicio sacerdotal lo asumirá Jesucristo en la cruz, pero lo anticipará en la cena, partiendo el pan y significando su muerte, transformando ese pan en su presencia corporal, compartiendo el cáliz y haciendo de su contenido la sangre de la alianza nueva y eterna.

Por eso cada vez que celebramos juntos la eucaristía, como pueblo sacerdotal que somos, anunciamos su muerte hasta que regrese y nos haga partícipes de su resurrección. 

Pero la Eucaristía no es solo rezar y contemplar, vivir cosas del espíritu y poner los ojos en blanco. Eucaristía es sobre todo preocupación por los que sufren, los enfermos, los desposeídos y, por supuesto, un trabajo sistemático y comprometido para que no haya hambre en el mundo.

My Soul Hurts Every Day is a record born out of grit, truth, and a longing for something better.
