A dear friend and very talented dj for number #167. I met @na_one, the Korean born but now Amsterdam based DJ, in Berlin a few years ago when we both played the same Patterns of Perception Party. Since then, i've seen her DJ on various occasions, including an Animalia party in Melbourne last summer, and an evening at Garage Nord in Amsterdam. 

Her versatility but commitment to pure groove is always consistent. Naone's personality and dynamic energy can really be felt in her musical outputs, let alone her amazing technical abilities, boasting an impressive record collection, and also foraying into production with some amazing releases on @warningberlin, @oneyewitness and a @dkmntl cassette tape compilation. She always manages to bring the party vibes (on or off the decks), but her skills are serious.

The tunnel is a magical stage and im very grateful to have been asked to play the Saturday late afternoon set, before one of my biggest electronic-music inspirations, voices from the lake. I took the opportunity, considering the impeccable programming, open minded crowd, and perfect soundsystem to play a more slow building, delicate festival set - which felt very true to my real taste, and an homage to many of my deepest and longest standing inspirations. Erik Luebs is a US-born musician and sound designer based in Japan. Eschewing typical genre tropes, Luebs approaches techno with a playfully disruptive technique, reinterpreting the fundamentals using built-from-scratch patches and labyrinthine sequencing. While the labor-intensive process is inspired by a wide range of luminaries such as Mark Fell and Rrose, the resulting music is firmly tied to the dance floor.

Luebs engages in minimal promotion, focusing his efforts instead on producing a series of monthly singles on Bandcamp. Through word of mouth, his unconventional approach to dance music has led to releases on labels such as The Bunker New York, Nous'klaer Audio, performances at DJ Nobu's Future Terror party in Japan and at Draaimolen Festival in Holland.

There’s a rhythm to how the festival unfolds. Thursday opens slowly, almost like a breath in. By Friday night, the pulse is stronger, but not too heavy. Monument festival had settled into its rhythm, and Kia and Polygonia stepped into the wooden dj-booth together.

The forest floor was vibrating, the crowd fully present. Their set matched the moment—playful, warm, and alive. It felt like Friday was always meant to sound like this. Varden became their playground.

This was more than a strong back-to-back. Two years earlier, they met here, both playing solo, both part of the Monument line-up for the first time. This night marked an anniversary of their friendship. From solo artists to close friends, now creating something special together.
