Having recently been acclaimed by Gilles Peterson as one of his 'future bubblers' Michael Diamond has now announced the release of a debut LP. The UK based musician draws upon an array of enigmatic influences - channeling inspiration from the underground electronic music circuit as well as from jazz, hip hop and the spaces in between.

When we asked him to record this mixtape, we weren't sure which way he might choose to go. This could have been an all out club affair but what we received is remarkably more abstract and conceptual offering a unique perspective into the workings of a promising young musician.

The multifaceted talent Michael Diamond steps up for the next edition to our Off The Record mix series with a selection of bass driven leftfield club sounds. Off the back of his excellent EP "Placid Wakefulness" on his own Vasuki Sound imprint, which closed out the artists 2024 to much critical acclaim, we reached out to the South East Londoner for a mix. With a sound that draws elements which would stretch from  the likes of Music From Memory all the way to Hessle Audio Michael has deemed himself unique in production but also very much so in his DJ sets. With a massively expansive taste we knew he would be a perfect edition to Off The Record. With a more club focused mix delving into the UK techy and bass vibe it gives us an example of Michael Diamond at peak time. We had a brief chat with Michael about his mix and what he has coming up in 2025!

Chapter 1: Aries SZN

2018 is The Year of Mastery and Love, the year 11 (2+0+1+8). In numerology, 11 is the number of Mastery.

Aries (or "Mesh" in Vedic Astrology) is the first sign of the zodiac, it is a cardinal fire sign.
Aries is solar (sun / yang / Shiva / pingala) energy, movement, discipline, masculine drive, selfishness, setting healthy boundaries, fearlessness, discernment, and building foundations for the future.

For those of us who are consciously on the spiritual journey, seeking ultimate liberation, we are aware of the influences of planetary alignment and we can use this awareness as a tool to transcend our physical limitations and cyclical habits, we know we do not have to be limited by it. This time of the year is very masculine and all about movement and setting the foundations for future manifestations and abundance. Use this firey Aries energy wisely. Be in tune with the present moment and see the many opportunities available to transcend your limiting beliefs and habits. Discern what is for your highest good and what is not. Be aware of your true nature and you will see that the Universe / Divine / Creator/ Mother Nature/ God left a specific blueprint for your soul to play out a creative and genius mission in this lifetime. This is a time for action and doing what you have to do for the greatest good of all by following your soul purpose.

For those who base the start of the "New Year" on astrology or the Lunar cycles rather than the widely-used Gregorian calendar, Aries Season marks the true beginning of this master year 11. 11 is all about mastering unique gifts, mastering the mind, body and soul, mastering the energy centers, mastering discipline, and mastering awareness of self. As 2018 plays out, I will be releasing a new mix for every zodiac sign based on its individual energy.
