So happy to announce that Oscillate Mix # 41 is provided by Katia aka Katiusha. It is a brilliant showcase of Katia’s vast knowledge about the more leftfield crevices of electronic music. The London-born DJ and radio host has established a versatile profile in the Berlin scene since moving here in 2017. Her radio show “Above The Clouds” on Cashmere explores various physical and emotional connections to different cloud formations by soundtracking them with the help of friends and guest DJs. On the other hand Katiusha loves a good rave and can provide an equally fitting soundtrack to your 140bpm+ club experience. Katia has had appearances on NTS radio, Rinse and is a regular guest on various mix series throughout the web. This mix escorts you slowly from the depth and darkness of Koehler’s - Destroying Angels via Lurka’s bass-heavy - Clean to faster landscapes provided by Heritage and Sibilant. The last third of the mix briefly dives deeper into funkier club sounds, swings back to the body shaking Ctrls Remix of Anastasia Kristensen’s - Volshebno only to land smoothly in the safe arms of Jex Opolis’ - Instant Ocean. Influences: I grew up raving to Drum n’ Bass and this is the genre I first learnt to mix when I was 18 so this influences my style a lot. I also grew up listening to a lot of Hip Hop, Tribe called quest, De La Soul and this influences a lot of the music I play in my radio show, Tender Tokens. To be honest a lot of influences are from friends! Esposito, Darwin re:ni, Elke and the Reef party crew always give me so much life and inspiration. 

Affiliations/Residencies/Projects: On Refuge Worldwide I have a show called Tender Tokens which is focussed more on music for your wellbeing. This includes usually downtempo, hip-hop & ambient but also some dance music, garage, breaks and DnB because dance music is also good for your wellbeing! The show is usually bi-monthly and sometimes I also invite guests. 
Together with a friend we run an Event series called Double Trouble here in Berlin which is an art exhibition/party hybrid which focusses more on bass music and there I am a resident. We aim to showcase Berlins finest femme talent regardless of starting out or expert. The event series is just starting out but so far is a success and we can’t wait for our three events coming up this year! 
I am also in a DJ Duo with another friend, Elke & Claire (Future Friends). We used to do a Radio show together on Radio80000 but now we are sticking to the dance floor rather than the airwaves and have fun doing so!

Paul Woolford’s Special Request alias has developed into so much more than the jungle and breakbeat project it started as. Proof of that comes this month with his Belief System LP, a magnum opus spread across four slabs of vinyl. The first half is a techno trip full of visceral twists and turns scattered with references to his love of pirate radio. The second half is the soundtrack to a fatalist mind movie that is dark and broody. Woolford’s mastery of sound design elevates the whole thing to a new level, and listening to it is as absorbing and complete an experience as you could wish for. 

As a DJ with many years experience under his belt, his work in the booth is just as essential. In his Dekmantel Podcast he takes us on an unpredictable roller coaster that veers from sparkly New York disco through to haunted beats, twisted electro and monstrous techno. Spin backs, face melting basslines, rave and punishing drums make it as much a party starting main room mix as a heads down let’s ‘av it marathon. It’s fun, full on and pushes and pulls you in many different directions without ever letting the energy levels dissipate.
