The sounds of the UK electronic underground have surrounded Dr Dubplate before his own musical journey even began. Prior to immersing himself in the nightlife world, he was getting an education from his father who used to manage iconic London club Plastic People. It was this space that he then went on to work at himself, further cementing his love of a scene that would inspire him to start his own musical journey. 

After spending time as a promoter in Bristol, he then went on to start the ec2a imprint - a nod to Plastic People's postcode and the space that started it all for him. His mission is to push the underground, from the artists to the music and the culture. The main label and its sub-labels, TWLVZ and Original Pirate Material (OPM), focus on speed garage, 2-step, jungle and bass-heavy sounds, and have so far welcomed the likes of Riko Dan, Breaka, Coco Bryce, Main Phase and Dj Swagger, who takes care of the next EP out on 18th November.

The ec2a name extends to his Rinse FM show too, which showcases the best of the label, Dubplate's energetic and club-ready discoveries and guest mixes from the likes of Holloway and Marble. That same energy comes through on his Ransom Note mix. Never afraid to jump between genres, he blends UKG, breaks, jacking house, broken club rhythms and jungle but with effortless style.
