Kiefer Detrick (Drums, Guitars, Vocals), Elon Thomas (Vocals, Guitar), and Julian Rivera (Bass) are a band from the eastside of Los Angeles, CA. They share a love for Wilco, Big Thief, and Tom Petty.. and it shows.
Their first single, folk-rock americana anthem “Just A Baby” is a jangly, light-hearted tantrum that is as relatable as it is repeatable. They are not worried if people will think it’s cool – this is a song about being a loser. After they leave the studio, they’re likely to be found drinking PBRs at home.
In the few short months they’ve been a band, they’ve built a studio, played five shows (The Echo, Genghis Cohen, Heartthrob, Record Parlour) for hundreds of people, and are closing in on finishing their first record. This is music for the manic, the sunburnt, and everyone watching the party from the couch.

Sometimes you have a memory so present and urgent you can’t think of anything else. Sometimes a year goes by and you’re not sure you were really paying attention. And each winter, and every year we’re alive, the Days Get Shorter. In that spirit, Days Getting Shorter is a simple song about remembering and not remembering, missing and not missing. Border Collie performed this song live with little overdubs – and retains that live-in-the-studio feel. Locomotive guitars and shakers, overheard conversations between bandmates, a cozy winter listlessness.

After producing their first singles and EP of 2023 in their home studio, Border Collie enlisted the help of a couple of old friends to catapult them into a busy 2024: Trevor Zemtseff (drummer for Ethan Tasch, Mk.gee) joined Border Collie at Scott Frankfurt Studio for a one day recording session late last year. 
‘Losing my mind’ retains Border Collie’s live-in-the-studio feel, but with a newfound presence and crispness that complements the stubborn (and almost delusional) optimism that abounds the band’s prior output. Singers Kiefer Detrick and Elon Thomas share a loose and acrobatic harmony the whole way through, tripping around meaning and purpose, feeling all and knowing none. Despite the steadfast locomotion of drummer Trevor and B.C. bassist Julian Rivera’s rhythm section—you might get the urge to hold the lid down on the band’s roll-boiling energy.
This new single, ‘losing my mind’ is the first of three tracks recorded that day, set to release on leap day 2024, and exactly one month before the release of their forthcoming EP. This song is perfect for editorials like Undercurrents, Lorem, and Today’s Indie Rock.

Born as an anthem for an Ice Age themed Aquatic Goth party, “Cold as Ice” is a dark club banger full of seductive lyrics and pulsing bass. Featuring the luscious vocals of Deanna DiLandro and the production talents of Naked Beach, the track starts as an intimate four on the floor spell before breaking out into full dance euphoria. Imagining icy beings locking eyes with each other, this song is all about chasing the hypnotic trance that comes from a beautiful, chilling gaze.

“up closer” is about having a crush on somebody even though it’s the worst idea you ever had. “You’re putting my hand in warm water / I’d let you ruin my life / I’d let you give me a sunburn” stews in danger, shame, and mild pain. The dry rhythm section falls down the stairs in heavy thuds, somehow clumsy and intentional, ramshackle and taut all at once.
