Next on The Erratic Podcast we are happy to welcome aboard a very talented, young artist who has been on our watch-list for a while, HÉCTOR OAKS. Based in Berlin by way of Madrid, he's made quite a name for himself in the last couple of years. In 2014 he joined the KEY imprint and later became part of the Unbroken Booking agency, a established collective of friends and artists from Berlin. Hector has also released superlative works on Sonntag Morgen, Quant, and Mutewax along with a slew of spectacular remixes that have been played by superstar djs around the world. At the start of this year 2016, he founded his own imprint, OAKS, with its first release being one of his strongest works yet. Sound-wise, what is unique about Hector is his uncanny sense of producing truly evoking and outstanding pieces of timeless techno. Powerful, deep, raw and emotive his sound juxtaposes classic and soulful Detroit with Berlin's modern raw and powerful sound, meanwhile infusing his trademark of authentic and enthralling melodies. In this mix for us, he delivers a seminal session full of good old, stomping techno mixed with exquisite, varied textures. Drawing influence from dubstep, grime, and the harsher sounds lent to strains of metal and hardcore, Cressida originated out of the London underground and developed his own individual style of producing music. After choosing Berlin as his new home and creative work place, he had his debut release on VOITAX with his first Solo EP “Hymn To Lust” in Spring 2017. Since his first release, he has had a steady output featuring on labels such as Monnom Black and London White while continuing to build his increasingly busy DJ schedule.

Creativity lies in various artistic factors based mainly on commitment and maturity that is acquired with it, each project is a decision that is forged with a cold mind and requires to be conceived at the right time, a waiting time between projection and execution, this is what presents us with DORHG on his new label Atroc Records, where he opens a catalog with the remixes of Kalter Ende & Sarf, a 180g and twelve inches LTD vinyl, entitled "Fixing Process".

The path taken by DORHG with Fixing Process reveals his experience and vocation for dynamic, rhythmic, deep and syncopated structures, through icy and mental sequences, without leaving aside the physical and direct in his message.

Melting is the track that opens the release, it is bent to a deep bass sequence that reiterates its presence without variation, and although it acts as the central axis of the track, it is the percussive elements that are annexed in the background that give a certain energetic charge. Indistinctly to the original version, Kalter Ende refuses to maintain this bass line and leads us to another character more dense and textured in his adaptation, but preserving the rhythmic nerve.

The work of Ōtone is characterised by an ongoing investigation of abstract industrial soundscapes - spanning from electroacoustic ambient and drone forms to percussive and dance floor oriented tracks. In 2017, they started a collection/series of self-made metallic objects called 'Tetsu' that they use as compositional tools and performative instruments. In the studio and on stage, Ōtone manipulates these instruments and blends them with material from their field recordings archive. Their timbers exploration plays with the listeners’ acoustic memory to create new sonic combinations and associations until another landscape emerges. Ōtone has performed live in venues such as OHM, Urban Spree, ACUD MACHT NEU, Spektrum, Punctum, and DJ sets in clubs such as Tresor and Arena Club.
Since 2015, Ōtone is the founder and curator of ygam, an independent record label and space for industrial sonic tapestries and peculiar studies of noise to unfold.
