Well, ok. Not strictly a debut. Our Mexico maestro, Paulor, did feature on the third instalment of our Familiar Faces series back in 2020, and now he’s back, as one half of our new cosmic couple. As resident DJ of the legendary Futuro Primitivo he has soundtracked the nights for so many and showcased his own music on Life And Death, DGTL, Kompakt and more. Partner-in-shine, Kalexis. A supreme selector. Deadly behind the decks and an artist who finally cut her production teeth with 2021’s ’Neptune Rising’, now readies her latest work…  Right here on Riotvan.  The pair ease us in with the beatless opener ‘Going Through The Void’, before hitting us square in the chest with the growling stomp of ‘Energy’. On the flip they entice with the electrified folk feels of ‘Lashes’, before the rotor-blade drone of ‘Magnetic’ closes the EP.

The sound of MARTIN MERZ is a scenario of gloomy soundscapes and analogue bass figures, paired with elements from Industrial and EBM which takes the listener into the abyss of an urban future.
For his electronic compositions MARTIN MERZ isn’t only fishing in techno-waters as he also lets his listeners glide through ambient landscapes which transform into pumping organic shapes of groove and synth melodies. It’s those bubbly basslines making love to space-filling spheric sounds and tribal drums that turn everything into a timeless and dancy work of art.

The release is packed with mysterious vibes served by ANGE, Iba Boö delivering some masterfully crafted metallic voices, slow paced grooves by Robsn and faster cadence proposed by Karla Lynch. Eklektique takes us on an adventurous trip and Alda gets us on a clangorous yet melodic path.
We are very happy to have once again on the party Roliva with a tune full of Rock and Roll spirit and delightfully treated voices as well as Leonor and its mental proposal full of melodic jewels as usual. On the cover art side our in-house designer and hommie Sergio Salazar.

Disco Sour, founded back then as a counterpart to the minimal electronic music scene, started as a Disco project and evolved into a powerhouse of sonic ecstasy. Fuelled by the pulsating beats of the global groove and house scene, their sets are electrifying, promising a kaleidoscope of danceable rhythms.

In addition to their first release, which will be out soon in digital format, they have often had the chance to prove their skills alongside other big DJs at events throughout the Rhine-Main area. On top, they recently became part of the Tanz In Frankfurt booking agency.
