Following on from the likes of Ellen Allien, Kerri Chandler and Solomun, WhoMadeWho step up to mix the next instalment in the coveted Watergate mix series. For the first time in the compilation’s history, the Danish three-piece will present all-new and exclusive material throughout the 87-minute mix, with key tracks set for individual release throughout April and May.

Jeppe Kjellberg, Tomas Barford and Tomas Høffding, better known as WhoMadeWho, have spent the last decade cleverly and expertly traversing an array of genres from rock to rave. Applying elements of pop, indie, techno, disco, punk and funk, the outfit sets themselves apart from other club music yet, all the while they maintain an underground sensibility making WhoMadeWho the perfect candidate to take the driver seat for Watergate 26. 

The mix is quintessential WhoMadeWho as they slickly weave their way through a myriad of sounds without missing a beat. From the onset, deep and lush grooves coalesce with moody atmospherics on tracks like Öona Dahl & Dance Spirit's 'Break The Stillness’ and WhoMadeWho’s rework of Magit Cacoon & Lonya's 'Shma IL’, before slowly edging the intensity up into Artbat’s standout edit of their own ‘Montserrat’ and a remix of Concret & Tyu’s ‘BlueBlackYellowGreen’, where genres lines begin to blur. As the mix progresses the drama unfolds. Tim Engelhardt’s ‘Under Armour’ and Ruede Hagelstein & Justin Evans’ ‘Love Over Pyramids’ provide the ideal measure of psychedelia preluding an insanely slick transition into cinematic breakbeats on fellow Copenhagen cohort Kenton Slash Demon’s ‘Arp 8’ setting the stage for one of many highlights of the mix; Artbat’s ‘Closer’ Feat. WhoMadeWho. 

Moving into the latter half of the 87-minute mix, the trio dive into headier territory showing their affinity for emotive moments as Otto B’s ‘Willy’ and their own remix of Alex Schaufel’s ‘The Day Of Rebirth’ cleverly melts into mesmerising cuts such as dOP’s ‘Radiowaves’ and their collaborative cover with Ruede Hagelstein of Bjork’s ‘Violently Happy’. The finale is momentous as Speaking Minds & Amarcord’s ‘Blue Days’ provides an emotional crescendo, before WhoMadeWho’s own future classic ‘Smile’ rounds things out masterfully.

Exclusive Shall Ocin 'Boreal'

Run by Terr, Daniel Watts and Shall Ocin, Clash Lion Records is about to ready the next EP. 'Stay Here' is the latest work from co-label founder Shall Ocin and includes - aside from the EP's title track - a second take that goes by the name of 'Boreal', meaning northern or cold-moderate with reference to the boreal zone, which is located in the northern hemisphere. Crystal clear yet pleasant synth-chords combined with a lush bass line mark 'Boreal's' start before the chords' tonality is boosted in the course of the track to rise the tension moderately. The synth-sounds are then interrupted by a creaking second synth-sound which marks the track's peak. From then on 'Boreal' takes on the 'mild' melodic elements which the listener was introduced to in the first part of the track and lets one easily finish the walk through the northern hemisphere.

Shall Ocin's EP 'Stay Here' will be released on Clash Lion March 18th, 2019.

Back on the Riotvan with the third installment already, it is the ever on point https://soundcloud.com/llewellynmusic, still being the more extroverted Synth/Wave/NeoDisco-alter ego of Lake People - that just as a minor gloss for those who've been living under a rock over the last years. On "These Days" we see him further elaborate his distinctive signature sound, more than ever brimming with confidence and splendour. 

Exhibit A goes by the name "These Days (Don't Make Me Wait)" and instantly wins over the hearts of listeners and dancers alike by its driving, yet utmost elegant appearance. A slapping beat and dream-like pads get played about by a delightful piano improvisation and refined by amazement-triggering adlibs and vocal-excerpts. There you have it: the Indie-Dance-hymn of the season, bathing open air floors everywhere in streams of joy and collective rapture.

Then there is "I Wish I Could Have Seen It All" that in all detail emphasizes on classy Italo Disco-leanings, without compromising on current standards of production craftsmanship and all the requirements to get a crowd moving. That irresistible Funk driven synthbass just being one of them.

Closing things off, it's "Fleshed Out", presenting hissy snares, hi-hat-teasing plus a slightly off-beat arrangement, introducing a stardust powdered lead arpeggio synth and a plain compelling boost of energy and driving dynamic.
