On the 6th of February we held a party to celebrate our 2 years of Phormix. The line up of the event included a mix of both local and international DJs and producers in the likes of Dynamons, Morah, Miltiades, Svengalisghost on a live performance and last but not least  Mr. Mick Wills himself. The night was on fire and Mr Wills did his best to keep it that way. He played for three and a half hours straight making the crowd go wild and sweaty.The venue(Six D.o.g.s) never been so deep and dark before.  This set brings back colorfull memories to us! Also mr Mick  played more 5 hours at our after party in secret location.

Composed as a tribute to Japanese writer Y. Mishima, Yukio (A Brief Sonic Evocation) is structured in a symmetrical fashion around the emerging of the writer’s very own chosen self. Each piece is an evocation of a speculated narrative milestone of his life, mainly resting on the impossibility to draw anything but a mythological portrait of Mishima.

Ran by producer Nicolas Birot, "Paulie Jan" is one of those prolific project from the current Parisian scene that we’ve been following for a while. 
Obviously inspired by compositional techniques such as spectralism, Paulie Jan draws upon beautiful noisy ambiance and avant-garde rhythmic deconstruction to harsh technoïd concrete pounding.
If the use of modified or custom musical instruments (whether acoustic or electronic) and granular synthesis is a dominant feature in his music, it is however a typical processing of real sounds (field recording, foley sound) that can be found at the core of most compositional attempts.

Longtime fans of Sheffield’s Central Processing Unit may well remember Annie Hall. When CPU dropped her 2016 EP Tenured Positions it felt like a perfect union of label and artist - the atmospheric take on classic electro that Annie Hall had presented in her previous releases for labels such as Semantica and Detroit Underground was very much in sync with the CPU sound. Sure enough, Tenured Positions was an instant hit with CPU heads old and new, and the record remains highly sought-after to this day.

Now, four years on from Tenured Positions, the Barcelona-based Annie Hall returns to CPSmith’s imprint with new EP Fum. Fum picks up where Tenured Positions left off. Snapping broken-beat electro grooves anchor Fum’s midsection of ‘D’un Altre Planeta’ and its title-track. ‘D’un Altre Planeta’ is the most lively cut on the EP - there is real bite to the drums here which recalls everything from B12 to Star Eyes to early-90s hardcore - while ‘Fum’s beats are more low-slung and come bolstered by an electro-funk-flavoured bassline. These two tracks are bookended by ‘Verd Mar’ and ‘Promeses De Fusta’, joints which straighten out their rhythms into more linear IDM-techno beats.

As she exhibited on Tenured Positions, one of the main strengths of Annie Hall’s style is the manner in which she layers up harmony, tone and texture. Reverb- and delay-drenched synths cascade across Annie Hall’s tracks and serve to render her music in vivid colour. The combination of evocative atmospherics and grounded, stable beatwork is a technique which Annie Hall has inherited from experimental techno luminaries of the past - Autechre, Mark Bell, The Orb - and also something that she shares with other CPU artists like Tryphème and Nadia Struiwigh.

Annie Hall takes this approach once again on Fum. A fair bit of the record’s soundworld tends towards science-fiction - from the whooshing pads of ‘Verd Mar’ through the zipping synths of ‘D’un Altre Planeta’ and on to the B-movie keys of ‘Promeses De Fusta’ there is certainly an alien quality to much of this EP. However, Annie Hall is also sure to ground her astral musings by introducing softer synth sounds like the twinkling chimes in the background of ‘Fum’ and the gently lilting lead-line of ‘Verd Mar’.

For fans of Central Processing Unit, Annie Hall’s Fum is the best of both worlds. Here we have a record which brings together the roughneck electro snap of CPU’s club weapons with the melodic and textural deftness of its IDM-oriented releases.

“The Orion Years” finally reissued in vinyl format to celebrate its 25th Anniversary // Hybride Sentimento invite Thomas P. Heckmann with one of his most prolific alias; AGE. An ode to 60’s German sci-fi TV series: “Raumpatrouille Orion". Deluxe Edition with new artwork + 2 exclusive tracks, remastered by artist himself, at TROPE studio (Mainz,Germany). Back in 1994, an emulsion time for club oriented electronic music and while biggest techno hits were produced, a bunch of musicians started to explore machines in a non-conventional way, giving another smell to the appreaciation of this new form of music and production: independant, synthetic & futuristic(in the way of announcing something modern; out of humanity). We can point out just a few labels spreading this kind of 'avantgarde' electronic scene, Mille Plateaux, where "The Orion Years" has been published, was one of them. Some of those artists been highly appreaciated by the audience, basing their career on such abstract, melodic or not, experimental dance muzik, sometimes assisted by computers or sequencers, sometimes not.  

Thomas P. Heckmann took part to this specific orientation in a very subtle way as his career always been based on techno production. Aside the hits (at the time on top of big charts), Thomas Heckmann always played with outfits and aliases, permitting to spread secretly, more developed and less commercial, maybe more personnal productions through different labels often owned by himself. At the difference of all his productions, the first album under AGE moniker appears to (still) be an UFO of a generation and a career. Hybride Sentimento, in collaboration with Trope, is happy to reissue an album probably timeless for every aspects quoted, and for the reason to be privately worship since 1st meeting. Enjoy!

"Quadra" is a Lowfish track produced around 1996 and released in 2010 on "Memories Are Uncertain Friends" (Suction Records SUCTION021)

I named it "Quadra" – no shame in it – as I was in Autechre-inspired mode and as such, all things needed to be slathered in Alesis Quadraverb. 

Gear nerd details = this is mostly samples from a Roland S-750 sampler + TR-808 and a Moog Prodigy borrowed from Solvent, all sequenced by a newly acquired Alesis MMT-8.
